Power flickered a couple times and shit was hitting the roof all night. Otherwise no big deal here. Wind topped out at around 40mph at around midnight. I could see power transformers popping in the distance, it was pretty cool actually. Just for context I'm in the right side of the red area in the map Helena posted.

Yeah, we do this every year. Second time this year actually. When you grow up with it you kinda know when it's gonna get fucky. The air changes and it gets really, really quiet at night. That's when you know shit's about to get real. If you can hear frogs singing you're usually in good shape though.

Because we do this every year- I almost stayed. Saw the high tide that morning with a strong offshore wind and knew we were fucked.
Our house is still there but everything inside is completely fucked. But the family is safe and sound. I personally know a couple people that are dead out on sunset beach. One drowned in her apartment, another (idiot) electrocuted himself by not turning off his power and stayed in the flood…
But at least I don’t live up in northern Fl…

It wasn’t the wind or rain in our area. The surge was unlike anything I’ve seen- my wife’s family has been in st Pete for generations and no one has seen this. Not elana, the no name storm, Ivan……
We had 4 feet in our house, and I feel that we were lucky. The house itself is relatively ok- just nothing in it…. Could’ve been much worse…
