Anybody know?

submitted by Rowdybme to whatever 7 monthsSep 25, 2024 23:24:35 ago (+7/-0)     (whatever)

My brother is the CTO of a large bank. Think that shady young CTO guy in Mr robot. That's him. Anyway he told me he's having dinner with Israeli intelligence tonight. He always mocks me about my jew conspiracies. Anyway I made a joke about they are using him to get to me and my phone may explode. He laughed but then seriously said they have wifi access to all of our houses through wifi on our electric meters. Has anyone else ever heard about this? Just wondering.

You're doomed...

What do you think wifi access to your house (via an embedded wifi adaptor) would mean?
Because it doesn't mean that.

Apparently the electric meters on our houses have wifi in them. He told me this seriously.

pretty sure they don't. I would see it. unless its super short range. in which case it wouldn't work without someone walking up to it. and it wouldn't have anything to do with the wifi my devices are connecting to. so whats the point? bet this guy has xfinitywifi on his rented router.

I searched it. They have some sort of individual wireless network they run on.

Your brother is messing with you, retard

Naw I searched it. Our electrical meters have some sort of separate wireless network they use.

Ah the smart meter design. Yeah, I forgot about those.

Mostly used in remote locations so the power company doesn't have to send a stooge to read how many watts you've used.

You realize that's all it can do, right?

It doesn't have the capability to do anything else. You can encase them in aluminum to disrupt the connection if you're that concerned about it.

Nice try, JIDF.

Ok, how does it work, what's the bit/baud rate, what is the connection speed, what type of network does it connect to, and what people have access to the network and device?

You want to call me a jew when you cry about being called out believing in a jewish ideology.

"It cries out in pain as it strikes you."

Found the jew

"Ignorance is strength"

Knowledge let's you defeat the jew.

Those meters don't have the capacity to do anything other than report your wattage use to the power company.

If you knew my brother you would know he wouldn't joke about such a thing. I might show the texts

[ - ] Her0n 0 points 7 monthsSep 27, 2024 05:53:04 ago (+0/-0)

Iirc you only said that he said it connects to a wifi network. Am I wrong, did he say anything more than that?

[ - ] Rowdybme [op] 0 points 7 monthsSep 27, 2024 07:37:41 ago (+0/-0)

Wifi came to mind. When he said wireless. But he never did say wifi.

[ - ] puremadness 0 points 7 monthsSep 26, 2024 06:14:47 ago (+0/-0)

Yea, separate, so how does that do anything with your network?

hint: it doesn't.

I'm not advocating for smart meters I hate the whole idea and ppl suspect health issues, but thats not how it works.

The Alexa systems are all connected through a full-mesh topology 900 MHz radio network. So even when your Alexa device is disconnected from your own internet, it is still connected to all neighboring Alexa systems within a specified range.

Considering this, your suspicion would not surprise me in the slightest.

Yikes. My wife has one of those. I have always hated it. It's like white women are brainwashed into buying them

I actually have a few times. Needless to say she wasn't very happy. The funny part is she barely even uses it. It's just like hey let's have this listening device in our bedroom that tells the time

put it in the oven.

Yes. I fiddle around with ham radios. The software defined radios have a way to recieve and decode those meters; with the right free software.
