This question seems to come up every once in a while.

And I'm usually asking myself "is it some asshole trying to proactively get free book sites shut down because the only joy they get is from seeing others suffer?"

Also digitized books by Google. The ones out of copyright are free.

It's gotten harder to find the link to download them instead of reading them in the browser but you still can.

Archive.org is going to be shut down entirely due to copyright infringement. Best stick with Anna’s.
