There's a short story I vaguely remember. In it, a character is trying to keep within a few seconds short of the required reading time for company emails. For various reasons the timing, down to the second, matters and can get you fired or put on suspension, or earn you marks or whatever.

We are currently in the future dystopia, and it's all fake and gay.

I've had jobs like that. I told an idiot boss if she 'put me on report' again I was walking. It's not fucking kindergarten where you have a file of bad behavior. She shut up for a while but I eventually got fired. I stole a bunch of shit before I left though.

She ended up getting fired for firing too many people that the company needed. Dumb bitch.
