Haven't drank alcohol in a week.

submitted by Not_a_redfugee to whatever 7 monthsSep 21, 2024 16:05:48 ago (+46/-0)     (whatever)

I just got tired of it. I'd go through a 12 pack and a $10 bottle of vodka like every 3 days. Shit's expensive.
Plus I got tired of the embarrassment of when I would get black out drunk every now and then then my woman would tell me of my foolery the next day.
So I just quit. Been drinking heavily since I broke my femur on my dirt bike in March this year. Went back to work at my job this last Monday and haven't drank since.
Feels good.
I have to admit, I drank one beer last night while watching movies with my girl. I wish I didn't. Woke up this morning almost feeling hungover from just that, after a week of no alcohol.
I'm just plaim tired of it. Tired of spending the money, tired of feeling like I need to drink when Im playing games on my pc, tired of making a "beer run."

You know what's good as fuck?
IBC Root Beer and Cream Soda. IBC makes the best root beer and cream soda. I buy the 4 packs that come in glass bottles.
I enjoy a Big Red in a glass bottle every now and then too. Big Red is so underrated.
Yeah, yeah I know. Sugary drinks.
Still, it's better than beer, and I dont drink THAT much of it.
Ive also been drinking a shit ton of cranberry juice.

Congrats. It's been almost three weeks for me. Was drinking about a fifth every other day. My blood pressure shot through the roof for a while and I'm still feeling pretty rough. Been feeling extremely depressed and dispassionate about everything but know that it'll pass.

Thats great if you have an issue with drinking , i wish you well . I dont drink often but can hit it hardbut the resulting hangover and general feeling of unwellness stops me from wanting more for at least a week.

I get breath tested each day for work plus random drug tests so its just not something i do now , im not losing a 180k a year job over drinks.

I struggle to understand alcohol addiction but have a brother who is an alcoholic so i do know its a real thing . Stay strong and make not drinking the sacrafice you make for a better outlook.

We should do a poll of how much the Christians on here drink versus the people against Chrsitianity.. because it's pretty fucking obvious all of the low iq christians on here are mentally weak alcoholic losers while those against Christianity are mentally strong and don't drink and certainly have no addiction if they do. If you had mental strength, you wouldn't cling and remain a slave of the jews.

You know what's really good is ice water and lemons. Also the soda water Kirkland from Costco is a great sub for the beers.

Don't forget to take magnesium and zinc, you deplete those drinking a lot, and low magnesium will screw up your sleep.

Thats a shame, I guess i will be enjoying this delicious alcohol without ya!

[ - ] Sunman_Omega 0 points 7 monthsSep 21, 2024 20:47:59 ago (+0/-0)

Awesome! Keep it going, homie. I had quit most substance use for the same reason; I simply got tired of them. The negatives always outweigh the positives in the end.

[ - ] Endo_Aryan 1 point 7 monthsSep 21, 2024 20:46:07 ago (+1/-0)

That's great! I used to drink a beer or two nearly every day and feel foggy in the morning, but that was it. After I stopped altogether, one beer or anything else made me feel like shit the next day. It's just not worth it anymore. I cut sugar, too, so I drink mostly tea and a bubble water for my treat. Gerolsteiner is my favorite. But root beer is really good too, especially with popcorn. Cheers to you!

Plus I got tired of the embarrassment of when I would get black out drunk every now and then then my woman would tell me of my foolery the next day.

Why can't your clowns moderate your vices?

Alcohol is just a tool, understand how to engage in alcohol consumption safely and responsibly like an adult.

I never get black out drunk. But I'm getting to the point to where I don't feel like doing anything extra unless I'm drinking. I drink like a bottle of wine every night. I won't drink anymore. But I do think it's affecting my health and I need to stop.

[ - ] Trope 1 point 7 monthsSep 21, 2024 20:14:34 ago (+1/-0)

“I don’t feel like doing anything extra unless I’m drinking.”

I hope you think about this and it helps you to quit and never look back.

[ - ] Rowdybme 1 point 7 monthsSep 22, 2024 05:29:01 ago (+1/-0)

It makes me want to. But then I just drink and it's OK.

[ - ] NeverHappened 0 points 7 monthsSep 22, 2024 10:09:17 ago (+0/-0)

That's how it gets you. You're just stealing from the future tho. Good luck.

[ - ] Rowdybme 0 points 7 monthsSep 23, 2024 02:30:35 ago (+0/-0)

But you live in the present. And all you have to do is drink to feel good now.

[ - ] NeverHappened 0 points 7 monthsSep 23, 2024 08:52:04 ago (+0/-0)

You bring up a good point as I am one that tends to both dwell in the past and worry about the future (depressed/anxious if you will) and I struggle with being in the present moment. I have to ask tho, does it really feel good? I'm sure some percentage of the immediate drinking experience does feel good but I would guess there is also some aspect of self that is disappointed or some other description.

[ - ] BloodyComet 1 point 7 monthsSep 21, 2024 18:39:11 ago (+1/-0)

Better that you're drinking sugary shit than booze. If so many American men weren't functional drunks, they might be as pissed about being fucked by ZOG as they should be. I suppose it's easier to allow yourself to be fucked if you're in a drunken stupor.

Also, it makes you grow tits and look pregnant. Just stop it. It's not worth the sloppy intoxication.

[ - ] Peleg 1 point 7 monthsSep 21, 2024 18:30:49 ago (+1/-0)

IBC makes a great root beer. I really like Barqs. That's a great root beer.
A&W tastes like vanilla cola after drinking a IBC or a Barqs.
Good on you Sir. Carry on the good work.

[ - ] Anotherone 1 point 7 monthsSep 21, 2024 18:18:15 ago (+1/-0)

I am strangely fascinated. Doesn't the taste bother you? Look how fried your tastes buds are. Who but alcoholics like root beer?

Not a jab or anything but low key that is what medicine tastes like to everyone else. What did you drink the most?

You should celebrate and have others do it with you at mile stones. That is how I brought a few back all the way. They always told me others saw them sinking again.

That is fucked up. Know there are people out there like me. A week is a damn good start.

[ - ] NeverHappened 0 points 7 monthsSep 22, 2024 10:05:40 ago (+0/-0)

You're wrong about root beer, bro. It's delicious. And so is black licorice.

[ - ] happytoes 1 point 7 monthsSep 21, 2024 18:14:25 ago (+1/-0)

To have something tasty to drink, I buy lemons and limes. I squeeze two lemons and two limes into a pint glass, add five tea spoons of sugar, and top up to a full pint with water. Stir until the sugar dissolves. I used to do this noisily with a fork, but a bamboo chop-stick is quiet and stirs better.

I recommend against drinking alcohol, but you have already worked that one out for yourself, so I'm on to the practical question of recipes for alternatives :-)

Detoxing from alcohol does induce sugar cravings.
Hard part comes around 6-7 months clean,it comes back innocently as one drink.
Then your upside down, ass deep 7X worse than before and it will try to kill you this time.
That's the shit AA never tells folks.
Anyway, get on some shit to fix up your liver,seamoss,Elderberry,Tumeric/Ginger,Milk Thistle,Stinging Nettle,Lions mane,Turkey Tail and Chaga mushroom,Blackseed oil etc.

When I quit drinking and hanging out with losers, I decided to keep the party going. Cut ties with all those people including the ones I genuinely liked. Took on another job, paid off any lingering debts, sought another full-time job doubling my income, became trustee to a non-profit, started reading non-fiction books full of wisdom from people older and wiser, started a business, and started going back to school for the career I wanted rather than the one I need to survive.

I was in the habit of a constant flood of dopamine from the constant drinking. You put a drink in my hand and I’d end up going on adventures and waking up in strange places. It was always a powerful stimulant to me that sparked my passion. Comfort and boredom were never a part of my life and to allow those both into my life was to welcome in spiritual decay.

I hope you find something healthier and more rewarding than that IBC soda and that you can build the faith required to follow it. It may sound absurd but I must return to my studies as each semester, I grow closer to a much more rewarding field of skilled labor where I can best use my talents to serve others.

So you went only one week before having a beer again?... wont be long until you are back up to your 12pack every 3 days

[ - ] texasblood 0 points 7 monthsSep 21, 2024 18:01:35 ago (+0/-0)

12 pack a day ain't shit.
After 6-7 it really doesn't matter anyway.Damage is done for the day because you aren't holding the beer long enough to get everything from it.

You should try Sprecher brand root beer and cream soda. Better than IBC.

I haven't drank for maybe 15-20 years (other than a sip or a glass very infrequently at xmas etc).
Now if i could just quit shooting up, i'd be mint.

I'll drink one in your honor. But, like you I'm getting tired of it and cutting back, just not entirely. I'm a skinny fuck, trying to gain healthy weight. Turns out alcohol reduces protein absorption. Just one more reason to cut back.
You better watch out for all that sugar though. Refined sugar and HFCS is the new 'poison'.

[ - ] Althea 5 points 7 monthsSep 21, 2024 17:03:10 ago (+6/-1)

Awesome job, keep it up.

I love ginger beer myself (not ginger ale), but it can definitely have a lot of sugar in it. Some other things I like to treat myself with instead of soda are kombucha and water kefir. They're supposed to have prebiotics and probiotics in them so it's "good for your gut health". They still have the fizziness and different flavors to keep me satisfied. When I drink cranberry juice, I try to get the unsweetened one (the sugary ones like Ocean Spray are shit), and it is definitely bitter/astringent, but it is just like having a glass of dry red wine and I loved doing that while I was pregnant, knowing it takes care of the urinary tract as well.

Best of luck on your new lifestyle. Know that you will feel moments of weakness or "maybe just a few aren't so bad" or "I'll only drink when I'm at a party/with friends/etc" but if I stay strong life will show me I've made the best decision abstaining. Last week I went out with some of my girl friends that I used to drink heavily with, they ended up getting fucking ridiculous, acted like retarded children that would not listen to me trying to help them and keep them out of trouble, and the next morning I had to explain the whole night to them because they couldn't remember what happened.

Definitely don't want to be drinking anymore since I have young children- that shit is embarrassing and you're unable to function and be responsible.

Also- I keep hearing that lemon balm (genus Melissa) tinctures are fucking amazing for stress relief, maybe look into them if you need something "stronger than soda" to unwind. You can grow lemon balm in a pot (it spreads like crazy so you may want it contained), cut some branches and leaves and soak in vodka for 6 weeks (keep in a dark place, shake every day or 2), strain, and have a drop or 2 mixed in a drink as needed (note- don't use vodka if it's too tempting, you can use glycerin or vinegar to make a tincture too).

[ - ] CasualObserver 2 points 7 monthsSep 21, 2024 16:59:29 ago (+2/-0)

if you had a beer last night you can't claim to not have had alcohol in a week.

similar to how I haven't had a drink in 6 years, but never claim to have been sober that long because I'll puff something.

[ - ] Lost_In_The_Thinking 4 points 7 monthsSep 21, 2024 16:49:38 ago (+4/-0)

Well done. So did I. I was drunk literally night for the last four years, even before the scamdemic began. My drinking had nothing to do with it, it was just a habit I'd indulged off an on for most of my life. I would drink heavily for years, then quit for years, and repeat.

So I quit again, about a month ago. I always quit cold turkey, no sense in dragging it out. I feel like a new man. I agree, that shit is expensive, and I'm starting to save money again, I'm getting my housework and chores done, and I sleep better.

OP, I'm very happy for you. I like to hear White men doing positive things for themselves to make their lives better.

I am convinced most people drink becuase they are bored.

Find something to do that you can do consistently and make progress with.
Golf, tennis, lifting weights at home, learn some language or something.

A big part of it is your girl.
How is she not part of it if she's sitting around doing nothing while you are drinking?

She obviously isnt finding stuff for you to do.

[ - ] Not_a_redfugee [op] 5 points 7 monthsSep 21, 2024 16:46:36 ago (+5/-0)*

Yeah the boredom thing os true for me. But I have a whole lot of shit I want and need to do and get, so that helps motivate me to quit too
She would drink with me. She's quitting too :)
I drank a lot more beer than her, but we would usually take take multiple shots a night and we had this dumb little tradition where we would always kiss and say "i love yoiu" before every shot. Dumb.
But she follows my example and is quitting also and things are going good

You're 100% right. After having kids, and ever increasing projects I want to get done; I don't have time for drinking. I might have 1 beer every couple weeks. But I get half way through it and get sick of it. I'd rather have one of those sparkling flavored waters or something, after a long day busting my ass. It's refreshing.

My grandparents never drank. They grew up in the depression, one of them literally in a shack. They busted their ass and worked hard, built there own home and several others; just always busy and doing constructive things. My dad told me when he was a kid and he did hay with his dad, his dad thought a cold beer sounded good. So once a year he'd buy a six pack, open one up and have a sip. Then was disappointed. He'd dump the rest and the remainder of the 6 pack would sit in the fridge till they threw it out.

I greatly admire my grandpa and father. They were both great men that could do anything and were strong, sometimes mean, but fair men. I hope I'm as good of a role model for my children.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 21 points 7 monthsSep 21, 2024 16:32:24 ago (+21/-0)

Yay. Good for you.

I quit about 3 or 4 years ago. I lost track. I was embarassed that my recycling bin was full of wine and beer bottles. I was tired of feeling like shit the next day. I was embarrassed by my own behavior and my drunk calling (and drunk commenting)

Alcohol industry is owned by parasites. Why are they any different than cocaine cartels or the Sacklers? They aren’t. They live off of the biological enslavement of others. People are not better for using alcohol and they are not happier. Its a massive drain on society. The drinker and his family are not the only victims of alchohol. The entire economy is. We don’t have to accept it just because it was normalized by our ancestors.

Booze makes you a slave. You mindlessly go back to the store to give parasites more of your money, but you aren’t happier for it—you are more ill, depressed, fatter and sooner for the grave. Everyone remember Cunt’s post from a month or two back? Thats what alcohol does to White families. Thats how Mr. Coors pays for his mansions.

Happiness is not in a can of beer or a needle of heroin. Happiness is in your brain. Booze releases all the hormones and neurotransmitters that create a happy feeling. Then when you sober up, theres nothing left. Regular alcohol consumption interferes with your basic enjoyment of sober reality. After I had quit for a few months, I realized I was enjoying everything more as a sober person. Booze just steals happiness from your sober life.

Theres two reasons to stick to it.
— impairs your ability to feel pleasure
—money goes to kikes on yachts

Lets add:
—promotes White genocide
And
—makes you fat.

Yeah, yeah I know. Sugary drinks.

And maybe caffeine depending on the brand. But one battle at a time. I used to love cream soda. Now i drink seltzer and decaf green tea. Sounds terrible, yeah? But its okay.

Good luck and keep it up.

You don't really need a reason to quit....do you? I agree with you in the cartels own the alcohol industry. Lot of people don't know that cartels control mangos, avocados, some verities of tomato's. Bananas, like all of them. You see it not on the tree, cartel any where in the world you go. Same cartel!

That is soooooo many people don't grasp what a feat that is.

I am trying to grow some, because fuck them!

[ - ] PostWallHelena 0 points 7 monthsSep 21, 2024 18:34:26 ago (+0/-0)

You don't really need a reason to quit....do you?

Yeah it helped me to stay away from the stuff knowing that the booze industry is ipso facto kiked. Maybe tomatoes are produced by a corrupt cartel but selling tomatoes isn’t per se parasitism. Alchohol is. Good luck with the produce. I think its a good move.

If that is the part of it's history that makes it America. Sure then so be it. Mine is another one.

Mine is how Americans know that with jews you lose...right? We now know those pagers that hurt like 2700 people and killed a fucking lot.

Mossed spread the rumors they could be spyed on with cellphones. All their enemies went to pagers. They imported them, wired them with c4 in the batteries.

Some of them where years old. I am impressed and you should be too, but they did that. Indiscriminately by the way,

12 so far. 2 of them kids that mossad pager company sold. No one does anything. I don't love Muslims either, but there are Muslims that know this and do nothing.

Trump been shot at 2 times now. Nope, people going to dog shows.

Funny. I'm on day 5. Trying to go at least a month if not more. I've been a heavy drinker for years. Was doing 1 Liter of Bourbon a day years back and cut back a lot. A 1.75 was lasting me almost a week.
I'm just done with the feeling tired and like shit. Being hungover at work and red faced. Not even what it does to your insides, blood pressure, and mental state.
My uncle died in early August. Saw him a week before he died and he was living in complete squalor. My other uncle found him dead in his armchair a week later. Earlier in the summer he was trying to get me to go to AA with him, but I didn't want any of it and he was telling me how he was doing just what I was doing at my age. Kind of a shock to the system. Better give it up or expect to not make it 60.which is less than 30 years off. Alcohol has no benefits. It's all an illusion. It brings nothing, but negatives. The anxiety or depression you think it's supressing it's only makes it worse and lets you fall into a self-fufilling cycle that only gets worse and worse as you need more and more to get the same feeling. Tolerance is never a good thing and I could crush as many beers as I wanted without getting drunk. Had to actively look at the handle of liquor and say I want to get shitfaced tonight to get there. Otherwise it'd just be about 750ml a day of just liquor. Fuck alcohol. Wouldn't wish the issue on anyone. Shit is everywhere and it only takes one drink to fall right back into it.

I was recently talking to an old bf who was a heavy drinker back in the day (our twenties) I remember thinking back then he was gonna die young. He is such a mess now. So many health problems. No teeth either. I remember him as such a strong healthy young kid. It breaks my heart to see this sort of thing happening to people.

^This. I really believed that the stressors were external : job, commute, family problems, bills. Booze was the medicine and I thought I was “emotionally dependent” on it but not addicted. What a cope.

I love not drinking now. I literally just spontaneously think this to myself for no reason whatsoever these days. Its way fucking better. So sorry about your poor uncle.

Appreciate the condolences. Whatever demons he had, he's at peace now. Guy was life of the party and really funny. Last few years not so much. After all the shit I'm working to make alcohol a thing of the past. Not one person I've ever talked to who said they got sober has regretted it. They all say it was the best thing they ever did for themseleves. The way I see it is hey the heavier of a drinker you were the more positives to becoming a sober person. Someone that can enjoy life for what it is. Feel the ups and downs with emotions. Plus been watching tons of videos on youtube of people who have dropped it. The first day they look miserable, tired, and out of shape. In only a year most have color back, way happier, and in way better shape. That's what I want hopefully if I can dump whatever booze comes my way in the drain. Dumped $50 worth of bourbon in the yard the other day and have no plan on stopiing at any store for more.

I hope you stick with it. I was a heavy hitter for decades, nowadays sobriety IS the high. You will really start to appreciate it after 2-3 months. The first few weeks are kinda surreal. NO ONE regrets getting sober.

as you need more and more to get the same feeling.

You get the same feeling if you moderate your consumption enough. A beer two (or three?) times per week pretty much keeps you at baseline level. You save a lot of money and feel better too.

One thing that helped me, was saying I would stop for a week and then get drunk. But after a week, I said 1 month and then I will get drunk, then 2 months and so on.
I'm on day 2 right now. Jk.

Good you stopped, chemical-ignoring just disconnects one from joy and pain, and consumes time and energy

It's better to feel bad than to feel nothing.
