I'm not real sure why the family would need $50,000. It was their daughter and she was under age so she was costing them money not making them money. So now that she's gone they'll have more money already. And you know cremation only costs $500. So why do they need $50,000?

Probably to recoup all the investment they put in the kid, such as acting, music, and dance lessons, talent agents, etc. It's no secret what families will do and spend if they think their kid (especially a daughter) is going to be the next "big star". It's a tale as old as Hollyweird.

Found under a bridge over traffic is a rather suspicious method of opting out. I suspect there may be more to this.
