I just find it odd that our hair keeps growing, there's gotta be a reason for that. The only other animal that I can think of that does that is sheep, but we've selectively breed them to do that I think.

Hmmm. Well hair grows for a while (anagen phase) and then it enters a static (telogen) phase and then it falls out. The hair on my arms has a short anagen phase. The hair on my head has a long anagen phase. My dogs follicles also have a pretty short anagen phase.
It may vary from person to person or follicle to follicle but its pretty hard for most people to grow hair longer than a few feet. Longer hairs tend to fall out.

So when did our ancestors start to develop these long anagen phases on our head hair and for what reason? It must have been really useful to have a lot of head hair at some point in the last million or two years. Warmth? Sun protection? Sexual display?

And at what point did we start cutting our hair? Weve only had cutting tools for about 200,000 years or so.

When I was growing up I lived in Butler County and at least one mother of a kid in every grade had some little place set up in their home like a vanity bathroom but usually a cor er of the garage or a room in a finished basement where they had the necessary equipment, which is just a basic chair, a counter with a picture mirror, a sink with some kind of neck rest, and many had that hood dryer thing.

Used to have 24-30 inch hair as a kid. Now I trim to 15mm. (overdue at the moment) I don't have strong preferences for other mens hair length.

Style and physical appearance is a different matter. If you've made any part of it stand on end with product, or have 'frosted' tips and colors, you should be gassed.

I get my hair cut every few years since I donate it, and while I do look good with long hair and a Van Dyke with a long goatee it is inconvenient to maintain so I prefer short to medium, usually getting it a 2 on the sides and a 4 on top with a slightly offset part and scissors taper.
