I've had plenty of these moments...I actually made a nice den for my big guy Brutus...dug a hole into the bank with my excavator, piled it with deadfall and put spruce bows in it for bedding...I'm inside arranging the bedding and he comes to check it out, he's more interested in tugging at my shoes...I horse around with him a bit and then leave him to get accustomed to it. I come back a couple hours later and he destroyed the whole thing and he had a good time doing it. Bears don't like to be cornered, if this guy had went into that den with the bear in it there would have been a different outcome but because the bear had freedom behind him it didn't perceive a threat. Bears are amazing animals and they never cease to amaze me.
