I’ve never much given a hoot about the concept - as traveling is exhausting and I much prefer the comfort of my own bed. Perhaps my views are skewed as I spent a good chunk of my youth working to establish a proper home and eventual career. Interestingly, it seems as life progresses, the opportunity to travel becomes more and more possible.
Had a friend who saved for over a year to go to Japan with his minimum wage job. He invested much into that trip. At the same time, I spent every dollar I had paying for schooling that would get me out of the minimum wage trap.
One of the most pretentious archetypes are those who have traveled and cannot shut the fuck about it. Young women will go on and on about their travels while simultaneously managing to establish very little for themselves here. It’s hardly a topic to build a personality on.
While on my honeymoon, I sat on a beautiful lake and could not help but overhear two women list all the sights they had seen in other countries. All I could think was: “We are literally on the fucking lake of which songs have been written about and your mind is elsewhere?!” Some types of men will do this shit too when given the chance. (Watch, someone here will reply with a list of places they’ve been but then proceed to either agree or disagree with my sentiment) They will start listing places of travel as soon as the slightest opportunity arises. Shit, may as well start telling me about your LinkedIn profile.
I’ve also met men who have literally created websites that is a blend of their resume and list of places they’ve traveled with photographs. What, is this China and there’s some sort of pussy score I don’t know about that they’re trying to optimize? It must be an ego thing.
While there’s some stuff I think would be cool to see eventually, I don’t have any spiritual longing to wander about and be inside hotel rooms. My longings are to establish a good home and family here and to build the option and financial freedom to travel. And when the time should come where I feel like going somewhere, I can say: “Fuck it, let’s go.”

Suppose like many things, it can quickly become a person’s personality and effectively fill multiple voids. I cannot blame them as life can be difficult for many,
I traveled overseas a lot in my younger years for work. At the time I believed in the inaccurate quote something along the lines of “that there was no better cure for bigotry than to travel”. Well, that must just be to the tourist places because i’ve come back the biggest bigot i know. I came back to the states after 15 years, exhausted from bug man fatigue, tired from sand nigger fatigue. I have zero patience for niggers in the states. The world at large is such a shitty place and these silver spoon boons won’t shut the fuck up. We need more rope. With that said, it was the sand niggers who first pointed out the jews to me.
One of the most pretentious archetypes are those who have traveled and cannot shut the fuck about it. Young women will go on and on about their travels while simultaneously managing to establish very little for themselves here. It’s hardly a topic to build a personality on.
I know a woman just like this. 33 countries and counting, yet lives with her parents, has two cats and is childless at 35. I think some people are literally running from their lives. Like these weekend warrior friends of mine who have to drag a trailer to the coast on the weekend or go to Tahoe or go here, go there. While these things might be enjoyable, I’m just happy to hang out around my place in the country on the weekend. Maybe take the wife to lunch and then come home and chill.
Our life is good. I’m not trying to escape it at every turn. We do work six days a week though, but, when we retire, we'll be able to do whatever we want. I’ve had it with foreign travel. I’d be more apt to take an RV to all the parks or something. Go to Jackson Hole or something. Currently when we travel it’s for business and we stay in the best hotels and spend stupid money on nice dinners. I like hotels, I’m too lazy for the camping thing and all the work that takes.
Perhaps it’s a generally good healthy thing that can be taken to the extreme by some people. Suppose I can make the same argument about psychedelics and the neuropathy of those I’ve known who would say their praises nonstop.
As a business owner, you are also well-integrated into your community. Just heading over to a neighboring town for a nice restaurant or cafe can refresh the mind and rejuvenate the spirits. I know we have a lot of types here that religiously prepare their own meals, but just getting out of the house on a weekend is worth the costs.
Anymore the best thing about foreign travel is to see and feel how denigrated the US has become. Really the entire Western world. I travelled by motorbike for a couple of years and when I came back to the States I just wanted to hang politicians, bankers, and fucking bureaucrats out of a need for revenge.
Those liberal fags that talk about how many places they've traveled in an attempt to make themselves seem cultural and open minded makes them look desperate and pampered. It's only spoiled, overeducated leftist niggerlovers that have the chances to just travel without worry
It was the Atlantic Council's job to merge American and European culture. THey're the source of the Ugly American idea. Articles about how French people don't smile at customers and the insinuation that only stupid Americans do are forwarded by the council at hollywood and magazine financing deals.
Those are all media created liberals who have the phrase "travel is broadening" in their heads. They talk about it incessantly because if they don't, nobody will know they've been broadened. Souvenirs are supposed go prove you've been broadened, but aren't doing the job either.
THey're using travel as a self improvement project which is the initial entry to abusive cults. You aren't good enough, so you must improve yourself to my specifications. Since travel is just travel, they aren't improved this time, but maybe the next.
To put the Atlantic Council in perspective, they convinced all the media followers that metric was smarter than the cultural imperial system. Metric is for dunces, It's just tens, yet kids could always 12 inches in a foot and three feet in a yard. They're manipulative abusers and con artists. THe metric system saves packaging costs. Plus jews have to strip everyone of everything because you must be nothing.
It’s good to change your surroundings once in a while - revitalizes your creativity, enhances your sociability, and helps you more appreciate the bed you have back home.
I agree. Often when I take a trip or some form of sabbatical, it relaxes my mind from the stress of my day -to-day and rejuvenates my creativity. I am usually excited about a new project I’d like to begin during the final days of my vacation for when I return.
I’ve stopped traveling for the most part for the last 4 years and it feels good. I was indeed trying to escape from a lot of stresses that were occurring. With a more settled existence, I have much less of a desire to travel, although I am a fan of short weekend jaunts that are an easy drive away…to nature :)

Speaking of: Not in Texas. Fuck, that place is too fucking hot. The trees look like they take a beating from the sun all day with Afro-like leaves. Even found several patches of cacti. Most interesting was the clear divide between red and blue.
A lot of people like to make expensive displays. It's a status thing. Uprooting yourself and going a long way off requires money. The idea is you still need everything you do in terms of necessities plus extra for doing all of the recreational stuff in that place. So, it's kind of a signal you've got disposable income to throw around. It's generally pretty annoying in some of the circles I have to travel in now and again. Talking about the most recent vacation is predictably the entire series of conversations that will be had or how expensive the latest home purchase was.
I've tried to like travelling; it just seems like work to me. The argument I've heard is 'don't you want to see what it's like in a new place?' No. Cause wherever I go, I get to see what a tourist experiences in a new place, not the locals.
I went to Canada one time. I never understood traveling and they always grab my nuts at the airport. 0/10, don't get a search from anyone with a neck beard.
You're actually more well-thought "value-wise" more than a lot of other people.
Some people are happy to see things that they couldn't otherwise see themselves at their home or near their home state. Others see the value of establishing a home that's so comforting that they don't value seeing places that are foreign.
You're indicating that you value what you have more than you value what you COULD have.
If money is no issue. Then the reason to travel is it's different.
It's like playing one game have versus switching - Imagine you leaned tic-tac-toe and you just want to play it over and over and over and over.
You have to do what is economical, if you give up a lot to travel then it should be worth a hell of a lot to you.
Another thing is the place your are might really suck, and you don't know it. If you have ties to the area then maybe that makes up for it. It's good to find out early to take advantage of opportunities. When your old and can travel will you still want to? Maybe not. People enjoy different things though. If your just doing it to brag, your could just lie about it and save money.
It is that the vastness of the simulation is truly amazing. You have never seen a picture of somewhere and said... I wonder if that is real.
My first was the Bolivian salt flats at night. Mezmorizing is what that was. Then I got to see the bioluminescent beaches in Costa Rica.
Looks like 1000s of tiny lights in the sand. Some of the most fascinating things are based in nature. However the amount of people you can see at one time.
Cairo market in Egypt. You ever seen 1,000,000 people in person at once? It is breathtaking to know there are that many people in one place.
Saw the prymids and it really isn't worth it. Lots of fucking hustlers, Dubai is nice, but Singapore is waaaaay better.
America has some of the most enchanting places. Like Montauk NY, all the way at the tip of LI at sunrise.
I try to make it once a year, then to Kitty Hawk NC, the Florida keys, Roswell NM, Seattle WA, some people it isnt for, and I get that.
It makes you a more empathetic person I think. More receptive as well and less close minded to enjoy the most primal of all human desires. To explore.
A few places I want to go are Kitty Hawk and Cape Canaveral. Outside the country it's Japan. Once GameStop goes parabolic, I can stay for a while and take some guided tours.
