It's all about chip manufacturing. There are only 1 or 2 mfgs that make the equipment and the machines take 10 years to build and there only a few manufacturers. If we lose chips we lose all retail automotive, most consumer electronics and a lot of enterprise stuff- think coke machines to forklifts.

It would be great if electronics-as-a-technology were totally destroyed, in some unrecoverable way. Most of our problems would begin to rapidly sort themselves out.

Instead of paying Americans $40/hr to manufacture computer chips, they can pay Asians $4/week.

Since I don't get the opportunity at a cushy job making computer chips, I'll just continue to weld. And save up to buy a bulldozer.

There is a treaty that was signed after world war 2 that obligates the US Navy to defend Japan. China attacking Taiwan will also be an attack on a Japan. There is no way around it for the CCP, they must attack Japanese Islands and Naval assets in order to take Taiwan. It doesn’t matter what administration is in power in the US. The Navy will honor its obligation. If they don’t, all agreements are off with Japan and they will be free to become a super power and gain nuclear weapons on their own. And you can bet they will do it.
