23And the whole multitude of them arose and led him unto Pilate. 2 And they began to accuse him, saying: We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Qeycar, saying that he himself is Mashiach a King. 3 And Pilate asked him, saying: Are you the King of the Yahudiym? And he answered him and said: You say it. 4 Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man. 5 And they were the more fierce, saying: He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Yahudah, beginning from Galiyl to this place. 6 When Pilate heard of Galiyl, he asked whether the man was a Galiyliy. 7 And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Yerushalayim at that time. 8 And when Herod saw Yahusha, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him. 9 Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing. 10 And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him. 11 And Herod with his men of war set him at naught, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate. 12 And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves. 13 And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people, 14 Said unto them: Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverts the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him: 15 No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him. 16 I will therefore chastise him and release him. 17 (For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.) 18 And they cried out all at once, saying: Away with this man, and release unto us את Bar Abba: 19 (Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.) 20 Pilate therefore, willing to release Yahusha, spoke again to them. 21 But they cried, saying: Crucify him, crucify him. 22 And he said unto them the third time: Why, what evil has he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him and let him go. 23 And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed. 24 And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required. 25 And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but את he delivered Yahusha to their will.
I think we should all know whats in the bible. Im currently reading it. It alternates between stupid and horrible. I don’t understand why some people find it compelling. But I would love to hear why Christians find the stuff in this reading to be moral. Its full of rape and exploitation and murder and hatred of gentiles and polygamy.
Well some of them do. Both my parents had a Catholic upbringing and neither had read the bible. If youre raised Catholic, you know we were taught a few watered down bible stories which were grossly distorted. Im finding the original versions to be way different. And evil frankly.
But i have queried some protestants and JWs who are well versed on scripture. Because Im like, “WTF, have you read this?” And they are like “well you are misinterpreting that” or “ The NT cancels all that stuff out”. Some of them definitely know. But I think its good to challenge and to avoid telling people to KYS while doing it.
This portion includes most of Deuteronomy chapters 21 through 25.
Some highlights:
If you destroy a goyim city in war and you take a woman whose family you killed, shave her head and cut her nails and after one month you can start having sex with her. (Enough time to get over her murdered family)
If your son is rebellious or a drunkard you can take him outside the city gate and stone him.
Women shall not wear mens clothes or vice versa
Dont plant crops between your grape vines or they will be defiled.
Dont mix your seeds together or your fields will be defiled
Dont plow with an ox and ass together
Dont mix wool and linen fibers in the same garment
If a man accuses his wife of not being a virgin, her parents can take the bloody sheets saved from the wedding night and show them and man has to pay her family 100 shekels. If the sheets arent bloody she will be stoned
If a man rapes a woman he must marry her and pay her father 50 shekels.
A man with destroyed testicles or no penis cannot be a member of the congregation.
A mamzer (cross between non-jewish mom and jewish dad) and his descendents cant join the congregation for 10 generations because the Ammonites and the Moabites wouldn’t let israelites pass through their lands when they left Egypt. Descendents from cross between an Israelite and an Edomite can join after 3 generations.
If a soldier has nocturnal emission in an army camp, he must leave the camp and wash and he must wait until sunset to return
If a slave escapes from a foreigner, don’t return him to the foreigner,
Don’t profit from usury off your fellow israelite. Usury off a goy is ok.
If a womans husband dies and she has no son, her husbands brother must marry her and the first born son will be the legal son and heir of the dead husband. If the brother refuses to marry his sister in law, she shall remove his sandal and spit in his face
Amalek attacked the Israelites as they left Egypt so obliterate the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.
