Depends on where you go and why i suppose. I want to take my kids to see some things that i have such as the Grand Canyon and stuff like that. I want them to see it because i found it amazing. We wouldn’t be escaping anything in this instance.
Not around here. I go a mile down the road and it's endless farms. Most of them have a bit of land next to the road with a bunch of trees around it and a big house, garage, and several vehicles. The rest of the land is just farmland, occasionally a barn or two. Lots of offroad vehicles and small airplanes, not really any campers though. The places closest to me have a communal parking area for large equipment. The ones further out tend to have their own parking.
I had this life for about 5 years. It was very nice at times but at other times it was solitary and boring. I never really connected with the local community (there were many crazy leftists, albeit they were louder than they were popular) and the rest of my family was hours away and it was hard to get my friends to visit. It was also difficult to be holed up with my wife 24/7 because there wasn't much for her to do outside of the house. Winter nights were especially difficult as there wasn't anything to do except watch TV. Not saying don't do it, there were a lot of rewarding elements, but go live in a house like this for 6 months to see if you like it first.

Vacations, where one leaves one's home, are basically people trying to escape from their lives (temporarily).

It seems to me that the average farmer living in the bucolic splendor of nature is pretty eager to take a vacation from it.
