i remember playing sierra games on my 486 sx 33mhz with just 4mb or ram and a shitty sounblaster card and my old man paid 1500 for this pc at sears in 1992-1994

it was so crappy that it couldnt run the mortal kombat games that came out later on.

the graphics were shitty too

what i'm saying is that i never got to play the big games on pc until i had a decent system like 5 years ago :(

i was mostly a console player during that time

I feel for ya man! I remember those days.
I wonder if you could still run Linux on it. I'm guessing you could, hardware recognition might be what gets ya...

there was a kid at my building who was a computer genius. this kid show me his computer ( i was a teen too at the time) and he had unix and other OS running on his computer and not only that he could program the soundblaster card to have speech.

i think that right now he must be working for the govt or something. that kid was really brilliant, personally i barely knew how to run windows 3.11 XD

he show me a few dos commands though that helped me to run some pc troubleshooting. i will never forget him because of his brilliance with software. he was a true nerd of nerds lol

yeah i got jelly that later on they released a better 486 chip with new clock speeds and a math coprocessor

I'm like the half-way mark for the age range 'millennial', and I know about the Trail. I didn't play it, but I'm aware. My first PC gaming experience was Tomb Raider. It's off-topic, I realize, but it makes me wonder if there were proto-Goats back then who complained about muh strong female lead. I know where Carmen Sandiego ought to be. . .in the fuckin kitchen.

That's pretty cool that you've played Oregon Trail, I thought it had it's run way before you guys came on the scene. I'm glad to hear that your generation got to experience this. I think we might've been the original Goats from back in the day. I didn't much like TombRaider! Saw the movie recently, a couple months back and hated it!

Millennials used Apple II's in elementary school.

I appreciate ruggedness, but Damn! They have bugs there that are bigger than some dogs!

As millenials, we played this in school. Our teacher would tell us to play Reader Rabbit, but id go on Oregon Trail. Stock up on ammo, and hunt wildlife the whole time.

Always take the ferry.

I lost the game, but I caulked up twice, rode across once, and took the ferry once. No one got dysentery, though. I consider that a win... ;-)
