I've been 1 mile below surface as a Hard Rock miner in the earth's oldest and hardest granite, the Cambrian Shield....consistent 72° temp, wide open "vugs" lined with gems, elements, amethyst, I've seen flowing streams and waterfalls...I've also seen blood red trickles of the ugliest liquid known by so few of the collective hordes, "acid water"...it has a miasma that fills the area yet somehow the earth is still a viable biosphere, the acid water never poisoned our surface water, in fact, in 1979 our mine detonated over 4000tons of AMEX, TOVEX, NILITE & SEMTEX, over a year to complete this charge task, in which was the world's largest single blast ever performed subsurface, it's what's known in mining as a "pillar blast", imagine Devil's Tower, out in Hulet Wyoming, being 1 mile deep into the earth with a lid of granite over it and all around that lid are deep blasted out holes, (stopes in the mining sector)..."Devil's Tower" is the pillar that supports the earth above it and right up to surface....ANYWAYS when the day came to "charge the wire" all of the employees, working or off, were gathered on a hill top a mile away, All of the time, effort, material and planning that went into this blast was about to define the level of professionalism of all involved...and then it goes through my head that if there's an improper connection or timed sequence in the firing order this blast could be a major fuck up that someone is going to have to answer for, then the crack of the ignition and the sequence begins (about 7 seconds total) followed by the big bang to finish it off and chunks of granite the size of a football flew straight up out of sight and landed somewhere in the wilderness.
But, I can attest to the claims of subterranean water
