Whoa!

TLDNR but fascinating read till i fell asleep owing not to this article but to it being nigh dawn.

Always called it a "Phillip's screwdriver," & had more than a few folks correct me with: "Phillip's head screwdriver!" i was like: "WHAF?" Had a preacher ban me from dating his daughters. It messed m'life up for a couple of months. Gave up m'career as a carpenter, too (which may have led to crucifixion, had i not gotten the fuck outta Santa Monica). Am i still writing? i'm asleep.

When you wake up and get back on here scroll on down this page and you can read all about how bubblegum got it's pink color and how it came to be. It's kind of an interesting story.

Philips is the cocksucker who sold his soul and patent to the jews so that we have shitty screws for eternity.

That's definitely why.

I thought those were chineesium philippson heads.

Phillips was invented by a dude named Phillips

Robertson same thing

Flat was invented when a fat bitch sat on a metal rod

BONUS - 1 free beer to the queer who can guess why most wall socket covers use flat head screws.

Aesthetics?

[ - ] Deplorablepoetry 0 points 7 monthsSep 3, 2024 17:17:27 ago (+0/-0)

Partly yes but no. Not primary reason

[ - ] PostWallHelena 0 points 7 monthsSep 3, 2024 17:21:37 ago (+0/-0)

Because if you paint over it , its easier to unscrew than say a philips head?

[ - ] Deplorablepoetry 0 points 7 monthsSep 3, 2024 17:29:53 ago (+0/-0)

Nope not quite..right idea

HINT - it’s naturally occurring in almost all environments

You are going to say something like moisture or static electricity or dust but I don’t know why.

[ - ] Deplorablepoetry 0 points 7 monthsSep 3, 2024 18:47:37 ago (+0/-0)

The correct answer is dust.

And when correctly installed, all screw head slots should be in a vertical rather than horizontal position….., hence dust.

Go look at your fixture screws to see if they are up to snuff or covered in dust

You win a BUD LIGHT….Congratulations…

I see the dust wont collect if the slot is vertical. WIs dust really an issue when trying to get your driver in the slot? I guess there’s more slippage but is it a significant problem?

You win a BUD LIGHT….Congratulations…

Nah thats ok I don’t want to deprive the homos.

It’s an indication of whether or not one has hired a proficient electrician.

If the dude leaves the flat head screws in any position other than vertical, I consider his work less than average.

Two reasons:

1 aesthetics

2 he should know better

[ - ] PostWallHelena 0 points 7 monthsSep 3, 2024 19:05:57 ago (+0/-0)

So its a shibboleth. Huh.

Eeyore the Electrician. Hahaha. I’d hate to be the cop that hired you.

[ - ] Jimmycrackerson 1 point 7 monthsSep 3, 2024 18:28:19 ago (+1/-0)

Because flat heads can fit into socket. So if you're half assing it, and slip you shock the hell out of yourself.

Almost…, nice try….., dare you to try that three times

Robertsons are even better

[ - ] TheOriginal1Icemonkey 1 point 7 monthsSep 3, 2024 10:28:13 ago (+1/-0)

For certain things.

[ - ] Rotteuxx 2 points 7 monthsSep 3, 2024 12:35:47 ago (+2/-0)

Torx > Allen

Allen > Robertsons

Robertsons > Phillips

Phillips > Flat

[ - ] TheOriginal1Icemonkey 0 points 7 monthsSep 3, 2024 12:50:43 ago (+0/-0)

They all have their place but only one can operate at different angles, the Phillips head.

Ah yes. However, I was thinking in terms of construction, with wood, where I’ve used all of the different tips at times.
