People want to be lied to! Hollywood produced a stereotype we were all supposed to kill ourselves to achieve (tradwife). Now its on to selling a new stereotype to young women (tattooed whore?) and that some fucking white male peasant was responsible for the tyranny of the first one. So ironic. But women were never really like that. These guys believe a Hollywood version of history. I think thats what you are getting at.

And if we are going to be honest about the downsides of being a housewife I don’t think its really being knocked up and hanging around the house. It can be a thankless job and I guess some people crave a lifestyle with more glamor and excitement. The bigger problem (and it is a real problem) is that without an outside paycheck she becomes solely dependent on her husband and that is power and power can be abused. It is human nature. We all see how tyrannical some of these women have become with family court issues or sexual harrassment claims. But “in the old days” when they were in control, they believe they were the ideal husbands. Writing from that period clearly shows otherwise. Men cheated on their wives (with very little of the reverse occuring), men abandon their wives (and children), men drank and men beat their wives. Certainly not all but many, and they could get away with it because of the power disparity. Men consistently complained about being trapped by the “old ball and chain”. Also ironic.
