Having had lots of dogs since the 80s, I can agree with that sentiment.
Dude dogs are squatting to piss these days.
Even the ones we raised on the "organic certified" land.

I know it. I had a dog who died recently. Was close to 20 years old. He lifted his leg to pee even with no balls. All my friends male dogs even with balls squat to piss now.

I think it depends on what you grew up on. Drinking from the hose water in the 80s made us more masculine.
