He was flouting that he can get away with calling Whites the racist insult while actively making a racist joke about Asians. He was flouting the fact that it was absurd, but that he could get at least some people to think the Asian guy actually ate the dog. He was flouting that he could describe something as reprehensible as killing a dog, yet have people accept that he was the good guy in the story.

He's mocking the people that are willing to buy his book.

That's actually a technique of scammers. You include lies and bullshit in your pitch to filter out people who can spot lies and bullshit. Anyone who is still interested now you know they're stupid enough to be fleeced and manipulated.
