TL;DR

The US Department of Justice is exploring several remedies to restore competition in light of a court ruling that found Google to be a monopoly in the Search business.

Remedies could take the form of breaking up Android and Chrome away from Google or forcibly selling Google’s AdWords business.

Other remedies under consideration include banning exclusive search contracts and forcing interoperability requirements for AdWords.

So when they did this to Microsoft way back in I guess the '90s they didn't actually break them up and no one understood why and then of course we found out years later from I guess it was Snowden that the reason was that they forced Microsoft to put government back doors and spying mechanisms in everything that Microsoft produced. And that was why they didn't break them up. So my guess is the government's going to get heavily involved in Google's already massive spy Network.

I've already blocked Google on my machine. They can do whatever they want at this point, I want no part of it.

About to say, (((Google))) is controlled by the NSA for the most part.

Yeah but they presumably don't care about parts of it. They don't care who gets the money. They want control and information. Which Google or Google2 can continue to give them. That kind of control is through relationships, and the people will still be there.

This will be a business reorganization; not anything that will will affect what the CIA does.

IMO Google should never have been allowed to buy DoubleClick. I want to see the advertising stuff broken into competing companies like it was before Google. (Btw, where was the government at that point? DoubleClick was already the biggest purveyor of web ads.) It is not unheard of to do like a lateral slice of a company and create competitors, and I think it's the best way to do things.

You should keep in mind what the government is ostensibly protecting here. It's not your free speech. It's the price of ads bought by (((advertisers))). As you saw with Twitter/Musk. In that case, advertisers were the ones illegally colluding to bring down their own prices. But the point is there's a battle there. The government is taking a side in that monetary battle. It has nothing to do with promoting your freedom of speech.

Could, won’t.
