It might be ok for short duration, light-duty work but that's it.

I am nearly certain that the heat thrown off that battery after just 15 minutes of constant work would make it a bitch to use. I would suggest renting one to test it before you even consider buying one yourself.

Small gasoline engines are prohibited from being sold by stores, for the most part. Seems a little unevenly implemented though. But by the end of 2024, all small gasoline engines will mostly be banned from being sold at retail.

Buy gas powered products online, or get them second hand and learn to maintain them.

Plastic, battery powered equipment is shit. It has a short lifetime, and can't easily be repaired on purpose.

Gasoline tools and engines won't be actually banned. It's just the sale of new ones they're banning. Companies probably won't ship them to California if you try to buy them online, because that would be prohibited by law. You'll have to buy from your local black market tool dealer.
