Even Middle-School shop class students know better than to use a table saw like that.

You are supposed to use a "Push Stick" (or a 3rd piece of wood) to control the piece you are cutting. This keeps your hand, and fingers completely away from the blade to begin with.

This technology has been around for a few years. It's incredible. Most people use a hotdog to demonstrate it, not their own fingers, haha.

In seriousness, what kind of retardation was this? Pulling a circular piece toward yourself after the cut, with the direction of the blade? Jesus.

It looks like he must have had the piece screwed to that sacrifical board from underneath? Number one, there are probably safer jigs. Number two, you pull the fuckin sled, not the workpeice.

Clearly this is a grade A retard in action

This problem has already been solved.
We invented capitalism to risk other people's fingers instead of our own.

Retards. Everything is dangerous.

How could a rope swing be dangerous?....... Oh,never mind.

Yeah but not everything removes 67,000 fingers per year. So SawStop for the win

I was teaching a new hire that was a friend of the boss's family how to use a table saw and I don't even know how many times I told him,"Keep your hands away from the saw blade, it will take your finger off before you even know it's gone". Left him alone for two minutes to go talk to the boss about an order. Came back to the fool holding his hand and looking at his finger like a dying puppy. Half a finger nail was gone. I told him,"good news is you still have your finger, bad news is you're fuckin' fired. Get out of my shop". Boss agreed it was for the best.

I'd rather hire somebody who had "hands on" experience to (now) know better than have somebody who's never made the mistake.

That being said, if you literally told him moments before and he can't follow directions then that little problem solved itself.

And that's why we had shop teachers in the 90s with missing fingers.

i'm old school, my last table saw was a Bosch (picked that one up in like 02), was nice because it wasn't as heavy as the deWalt collapsible that was out about the same time, still heavy but easy enough to pick up and slide into the back of a pickup. After that one shit the bed I went cheap - Ryobi with a little scissor stand that you unfold. Thing is a throwaway, but it's good enough for me, I don't work in the trades any more. I never figured out how these finger blade stop saw work - fucking blade can grind through mahogany but the 1/100th of a second a hotdog touches it, complete stop

of course I had to ask Brave AI:

How do blade stop saws work
Blade stop saws, specifically SawStop technology, utilize an innovative system to detect and respond to accidental contact between the saw blade and a human body. Here’s a breakdown of how it works:

Electrical Signal Monitoring: A small electrical signal is continuously monitored within the saw blade. This signal is disrupted when skin or a conductive object comes into contact with the blade.
Conductive Human Body: The human body is conductive, causing the electrical signal to change when skin makes contact with the blade. This change triggers the safety system.
AIM Safety System: The altered signal activates the AIM (Active Injury Mitigation) safety system, which rapidly engages the aluminum brake.
Brake Deployment: The brake springs into the path of the spinning blade, bringing it to a complete stop within 5 milliseconds. This rapid response prevents serious injuries.
Power Shut-Off: Simultaneously, power to the motor is shut off, ensuring the saw blade ceases rotation and further minimizes the risk of injury.

This is exactly what I was hoping for in the comments.

They also trigger if a drop of sweat lands on your wood.

I once saw a nigger lose all of his fingers from a table saw because he wasn't using the safety correctly. As soon as he hit a knot in the timber and tried to break it free, it gobbled up his hand, lol.
Seriously, fuck that black cunt, that job was when I legitimately started to hate ethnics without reservation.
