The claim is they did a bunch of work (they didnt), but they are also quoting me for services they never did. I know these people can get pricy but they're essentially charging me for what amounts to removing some carpet, using a few moisture fans and helping me clean the gutters. None of it was replace by them either, that was done separately. And they want 20 THOUSAND dollars for this work. This is why i hate insurance, it makes owning a home unaffordable and balloons up the costs of even the most basic work imaginable into the price of a new car.
It's absurd honestly. The worst part is that cost of repairs vs what insurance paid out was a fraction of what it cost to actually fix everything. So the contractor is bilking both the insurance and the customer to maximize their payout. Bunch of fucking thieves is what they are
When you say that the replacement work was done separately, did they contract it?
Because they're charging 20% over the cost of the people doing the work as the contracting agents. I do a lot of work with a restoration company, and its just kinda industry standard with GCs. Sounds like you're getting fucked if they want 20k and didn't have to do drywall or tile anything, depending on sq. footage.
They used a special automation tool and billed me off of the estimation of the work that should have been done and sent that invoice to the insurance company. Comment above, fucking thieves
Damn, that's a solid racket right there. Fraud would be damn difficult to show as well, because every person in the the chain can just say "durr tha softwares said this muches for tha survases" or "lo siento senor no habla gringo"
