UPDATE: the colony didnt burn down entirely, it just lost all of its power generation, crop fields, and the fire nearly got inside and burnt all of our shit

Tallest plays rimworld? I learned something new today. Have you tried animal genetics mod + children and pregnancy? And ticking the small box in animal genetics mod config where genetics apply on humans?

I use animal genetics. It’s a nice addition that adds depth and purpose to raising livestock. I used C&P until they added children to the vanilla game, and I just use that now. I haven’t tried genetics on humans… sounds interesting. Though the DLC that adds gene editing sort of fills it in for me. Getting the “deathless” gene independent of vampirism is great, for example.

My mod list is about 130 long at this point. I just finished a playthrough maybe three days ago and am finally ready to update to 1.5 for the new content… assuming my mods are also all updated and compatible already. Generally I have to wait months after release.

The “colony management” genre just clicks with my mind, I guess. I feel the same way about Victoria II (still play to this day) and SimCity 3000 (haven’t played in decades but I can still remember the music).

Just a heads up from when I used to play this game, Tynan Sylvester is a hack that doesn't bother handling edge cases, and is comically bad at designing AI.

Enemies will tunnel through your entire base to escape, rather than just leaving through the hole they made to begin with. If you get your defenses perfect where the enemy can only drop in one location, they'll eventually get so numerous that they start dropping everywhere. This will brick saves when they start dropping into un-droppable locations, which causes crashes.

You want the Compressed Raiders mod. You can set a max pop for assaults. Instead of spawning 300 pawns and taking your game to 1 FPM simply because you’re rich, you can have only 50 raiders spawn, but they have bionics, better gear, and custom hediffs that let them move faster, dodge, or feel less pain.

What locations are undroppable?
A bunch of walkable buildings like solar panels can't be dropped on. By setting up a colony in a mountain, and removing droppable areas with batteries, solar panels and walls, you could force them to consistently drop on the edge of the map. At least until the edge of the map could no longer fit them. At which point they would drop randomly everywhere, including heavy overhead mountains.

You want the Compressed Raiders mod.
This is the problem, and it can even be seen with infestations that don't have enough room. Tynan needed to setup raids to come in waves if they didn't have enough room, and it needed to be done before the full release of the game. It still hasn't been done with now 4 DLCs? A mod should never be required to flat out fix something that breaks the game.
