Speaking as a guy who did little to no exercise in his early 20s after being a somewhat active teenager, I can confirm that depression is the result. The moment I started working out at 28 is when I finally got some confidence and got rid of most of my depression.

It was well known since the beginning. Latin proverb says "sane mind in sane body".

If you want to get really fancy squeeze a whole lemon into a glass of perrier. It's my favorite post-workout drink.

Do you supplement electrolytes with that?

[ - ] calx 1 point 9 monthsAug 3, 2024 14:40:39 ago (+1/-0)

The only supplements I take are milk thistle and turmeric.

Apple cider vinegar in water has become my morning go-to.

Purchased some ascorbic acid powder which tastes great mixed into water. Will often mix it with electrolytes. I keep potassium handy but generally stick to unrefined sea salt. Magnesium sulphate doesnt taste good so I take a mg citrate pill. Bicarbonate also alkalizes the body but again, not a great taste in water.

Couldn't you drop a few cranberries in water?

[ - ] Fascinus 2 points 9 monthsAug 4, 2024 02:06:14 ago (+2/-0)

Fresh cranberries float on water.

What if you have no get up and go?

Your body gives you everything that you demand of it, but not what you request. Once you say "I don't feel like doing this, but I am going to do it anyway" your body provides all the energy you need. The initial hurdle is getting over that humans are tired/lazy by default to conserve energy to survive the chronic food shortages that have been happening for thousands of years. As soon as you make the firm decision to "go hunt" it will break out the storehouses of caloric energy and hormonal motivation to continue.

When your mind is preoccupied moving objects, there isn't wasted time to think about dumb stuff.

Weightlifting is pretty useful to combat anger issues as well.

Instant cure for anxiety or depression: ROPE.

[ - ] Hoobeejoo 3 points 9 monthsAug 3, 2024 09:00:13 ago (+3/-0)

I unironically use rope to cure my depression. I jump it. 2 minutes on, 1 minute rest. It's a great warm up routine before lifting.

[ - ] Anus_Expander 4 points 9 monthsAug 3, 2024 09:04:58 ago (+4/-0)

You jump the rope. I want Queeri to put the rope around his neck, then jump off a chair. You and I are not the same.

LoLz

I used to jump rope for a whole period of gym in high school, using a leather one. You get some nice bruises though.

Every time I start going to the gym and lifting, within a couple weeks, I feel amazing every day and say: “Holy crap, I feel great. I forgot how good I feel when I’m lifting.”

Bought a pull-up cage on Amazon for less than 300 dollaroos. It’s great being able to do pullups whenever I want. Torso is already reflecting the work.

Which tells you that mild to moderate depression is assholery.

[ - ] Leveraction 0 points 9 monthsAug 3, 2024 12:38:33 ago (+0/-0)

Been saying that forever!

Did the "experts"JUST figure that out?

Duh

(((experts)))

So, does it work in reverse? A healthy attitude makes you an Olympian?

Or is it just a one way street?

[ - ] DrLeoMarvin 0 points 9 monthsAug 3, 2024 09:28:30 ago (+0/-0)

It worked for me. Exercised with a Beach Body program before, during and after depression. It made things better, no doubt about it, even though I was already physically healthy.

Can confirm from personal experience. I work out 5 days a week. Some days more intensely than others.

I have experienced depression my entire life. In fact, I felt symptoms just yesterday. Very slight with a touch of anxiety. I remember thinking to myself, "Imagine how much worse I would feel if I was full of Goyslop and drained from porn watching!". Then I went in with my day and felt fine by the time I got home from work and started my jump rope/pull up routine.
