The Aztecs would extort tribute in the form of people to sacrifice from the other tribes in the region. When Cortes landed and began his invasion of the Aztec empire, many of these tribes allied with the Spanish invaders against the Aztecs, even saving Cortes during the siege of Tenochtitlan.

Mesoamerican "civilization" was impressively cruel, that their own commoners instantly defected to basically an alien invading force.

Yea did you know there are two types of Mexican?One for the white Mexicans and one for the brown ones. There’s Spanish words for each of them. I think one of them is Chicano. I don’t quite remember though

I did a presentation on the Mayans in high school. I was so high researching with another guy all day that I was just laughing too hard to breathe so in the end we grabbed a bunch of photos from google and just winged it making shit up the whole time. Hell I bet half those photos weren’t even of Mayans. Teacher was impressed. A plus baby

I am surprised they taught you that in high school. I didn't learn that until University that the locals helped Cortes. It was always the "Cortes with 15 horses and 500 soldiers defeated an empire".
