Depends on where you live, and how the police behave. If the police are decent, on a non emergency line just tell them about the big stuff. You want a log of his violent/ potentially violent behavior in the event something happens, but don't want to seem like an obnoxious neighbor or someone looking for an excuse.

Get fit if you aren't. Look up your local gun laws and open carry a larger pistol if you can. 10mm is preferable as it "looks" larger and more dangerous which is what you want for a nigger deterrent, is relatively affordable, and has a more reliable track record in stopping assailants than 9mm.
Other options are revolvers, a Taurus in 44 magnum tends to be decently priced.

I would recommend getting one of the super magnum calibers on the off chance he's part of a gang meaning you have to worry about body armor, but they are either very expensive or very difficult to find for a decent price.
