It was just another war thing that happened. The press decided to focus on it and make it a big deal. Same shit is happening everywhere.

The US military’s own records, filed away for three decades, described 300 other cases of what could fairly be described as war crimes.

This guy actually pulled the 'Reeee, i was only following orders'.

Uhu -Instead, over several hours, the soldiers killed 504 unresisting civilians, mostly women, children and elderly men, in My Lai and a neighbouring community, and ohh did we mention the gang -rapes as well ?.

While orders were to search/ confront a crack outfit of vietcong enemies.

Impossible to have sympathy for villagers who were like the more recent Taliban and others in the middle east. They were only civilians when they put down their rifles, grenades etc. "Civilians" who would use girls and kids to toss grenades through the windows of passing US vehicles etc. "Civilians" who would provide supplies, info and aid to the VC. "Civilians" who would work for the US military by day, and for the VC at night. I'm sure some innocents died, but that's the nature of this kind of war for you.
