You may be right, but Rolesium and the Rolex case/bracelet are damned tough and will survive a nuclear holocaust. The Japanese polishing and finish on a GS is often thought to be superior to Rolex, but the common complaints for GS is that clasps are shitty for that price point and Customer Service repair is dog shit compared to a Rolex repair center. I have always wanted a Snowflake, but have never handled one personally. I have been meaning to go to the watch store in Flushing and see if they can win me over.
I’ve also been eying this Omega for quite some time:
With a GS you are not paying for the band, you are paying for the mechanism, the spring drive, the shielding its unmatched accuracy and small form factor.
I have several Seikos, but I could never afford a GS.
Rolex is a solid watch it's the normal status symbol for a reason. Nirmies love rolexes. Which makes amateurs hate them to feel superior. Real horophiles go back to loving them because they are worth loving.
I've never liked them and never will. It's like buying a Bentley that looks like a 1998 Toyota Corolla. I don't care for Omega same reason. The same boring design for decades now. Panerais are at least somewhat visually interesting though they have worn out the original design at this point.
The other reason I prefer a Rolex is that these GS hands have almost no lume. Not only do I like as much lume as possible from an aesthetic standpoint, but as a night owl, I find it almost indispensable. The lume on my Rolexes is powerful and beautiful. My Corums, as well.
Yeah, not not so much on this model. I see a thin sliver of lume on one hand and maybe the indices. It’s honestly kind of a dealbreaker for me. Instead of this watch, I would probably get that Omega Seamaster World Timer at the same price point or save like $2500 more and get myself another Yachtmaster 40. It’s kind of odd to have 2 Yachtmasters, but I really love both dials on that and the lume is fantastic.
