Around here, we have what's called 'summer feet'. At the beginning of summer, everything is sensitive/hot. Eventually, we work our feet in and get summertime feet. Once that happens; we can handle summertime sand, sidewalks, and roads barefoot.
A trick for those without summer feet: bring a pair of socks to the beach. When walking on the sand, forget flip flops (shoots sand up back leg), just put on the socks and walk over the sand. Once over the sand, take socks off, give em a shake and be on your way.
