Was watching a John Carmack interview and learned a lot. Ie 1. He’s now a domesticated wagie for satan / facebook and has to spend time thinking about how keep himself motivated.

I guess he drinks like 8 diet cokes a day and still has the iq of ten of us. He had a portfolio in his teens that most adult coders probably don’t have. Dropped out of college. Id software was born out of apogee. Commander Keen was actually a work of brilliance / technical marvel for the time. Any modern coder slapped with their hardware back then would have just assumed it impossible.

I kind of feel bad for him. His thing is taking hardware to the limit but now hardware nearly has no limit. And he used to be the exact opposite of corporate and now he's working for the pinnacle. He's got too much to walk away from and no where to go.

Also we just ain't capitalist anymore. You're just working for the system now or impoverished. Or being killed off / going to jail so your business can be taken over.

There are still limits. The limits are much much higher, but they still exist and devs need to work around them. Games still need to be optimized to reduce draw calls to the GPU for example.

This Carmack faggot showed up in Austin at a racing event. He was driving a new Ferrari. This was in about 2005. He challenged a friend of mine to a race for 5k. My friend was in a Supra that wasn’t stock. Carmack lost the race, rather than settle up the bet, he just kept driving, all the way back to Dallas.
