It all could be solved with a continuous circuit of A-10's patrolling ~12 miles offshore.

The A-10's would be untouchable, and the pilot could strafe 30 boats or more per flight, and they have the ability to loiter over their patrol area for hours.

A boat that size would have to be loaded down with fuel tanks to get far out into the ocean where it could attempt to hijack the big ships.
Also the pirates are known to bring explosives for breaching metal doors and setting up booby traps

Very interesting to infer what the explosives were by the fact that they could be set off by a bullet. Likely a binary explosive like ammonium nitrate with an aluminum powder sensitizer (basically tanerite). That rules out c4, pure ammonium nitrate, and anfo. Does leave TATP as a possibility but that was a lot of fire for that.

I'm not saying it was amonium nitrate + aluminum specifically but my bet is that or another binary. Could be PLX.

Now I'm second guessing myself entirely because of the visuals. It could just be propane. If so that's a fucking retarded breaching "explosive". But that is quite a fire ball and zero shock wave.

I just assumed that if someone is going to rig up an explosive boat that it's going to use actual explosives. Why would someone rig up a boat that will do more damage by ramming?
