Newtonian gravity is compatible with heliocentrism. I don't know what Tesla's theory of gravity was, i.e., if it was based on electromagnetism, but I would stake money on the fact that it is compatible with heliocentrism and probably makes more sense on that model.
Why are you acting like Einstein wanted to derail Newtonian gravity so he could get rid of the ether? The motivation was to explain things that Newtonian gravity can't, like the motion of light in a gravitational field, despite photons being massless. Newtonian gravity can't account for that. This is how science works. Counterexamples to a theory appear, and the theory has to be improved.

General relativity is quantitative and it makes verifiable predictions, like that we should expect to see gravitational lensing and black holes, both of which have been demonstrated empirically.

Yes. Because heliocentrism claims that there is nothing between the atmosphere and the near perfect vacuum of space. For Tesla's technology to work, there is a firmament.
