I think they went to a variable geometry turbo, which while it fails in a fraction of the time, it won't blow up like an old school turbo. And diesel doesn't ignite like gas so whatchu mean

Magnesium and lithium ignite easily but burn at higher temperatures. You can't smother the flames with oxygen-removing foam or flame retardant liquids, the resulting contraction makes the flame go BOOM. If you're in an electric vehicle and the flame causes the electric battery to shut off, you can't get out. And if you can't get out before the flame reaches the battery, you're more likely to die in the fire than escape with lifelong burn injuries. Considering the ethical approach, I'd rather have someone live a longer life with their family burned heavily but functional than someone dying needlessly in a fire that burns at a hotter temperature than old fashioned liquid fuel cars. Even the hottest liquid fuel cars can still give you better odds for survival.

From a standard AC charger, sure. DC chargers (which is what those are) take less than an hour to get to 80%, and that's from nothing. A lot of people using those are only gonna be there for 15-20 minutes.
