Getting Married, why is the government involved?

submitted by Freespeechplease to whatever 11 monthsJul 19, 2024 18:33:09 ago (+11/-1)     (whatever)

Isn't marage between a straight couple and God?
Why does the government even need to be informed? All they do is change your tax status, charge you more money and muddy the water to who owns what, mess with benefits entitlements, etc and open you up to endless prosecution of basically everything, your money, property and who knows what else if you end in divorce. Why is a lawyer/state who executes the divorce? Wouldn't that be a priests job to keep you in line with God if your having such a troubling time with your significant other?

Why should they? Your wife should stay single in the eyes of the state and file for welfare. Make the state pay for your kids. And have lots of them.

If the woman is inclined to do that, she can do that anyway. At least milk some money from the state if she turns out to be a unicorn.

My chiropractor and his girlfriend/wife do this. It’s very cool and based.

When Church and state separated marriage should have gone with the Church.

You don’t see government baptizing people because they need birth records.

So why are they marrying people “because we have an interest in documenting it.”

First off, no. Second off that doesn’t mean you have judges performing religious ordinances.

Laws regarding money should be around children only. Not marriage.

Some states still have common law marriage. If a couple live together for so many years, usually 7, the state considers them married.

Now what with all the faggery and tranny crap going on I wonder how it will affect these laws?

Based on 30 seconds of research, I see only eight states plus DC recognize common law marriage.

Upon getting married a spouse gain many legal benifits without having to draw up a convoluted contract.

Inheritance.
Spousal privilege.
Power of attorney.

With all the bullshit we know, and the legal system stacked against men, someone sell me marriage.

Because you are inviting them in. Just get a religious marriage, leave the state out of it and manage your family your way.

It has to do with heredity and spousal rights to assets.
It's the institution that requires state recognition, not the oath.

Also access/power when someone's health fails.
