I worked second jobs for years for supplemental income.

After starting a scalable business that is going to take a long time to grow, I considered taking another second job to help seed it. Then it occurred to me that I might return to school to pursue a much higher-paying position in something more fulfilling.

Queenie, if you’re currently working in low end positions, it might do you well to consider formal training or education. You seem to have the wit and the energy for it and I assume you don’t have kids yet.

A place of employment can be moronic and mismanaged. They don't need to hear it. Just outperform everyone else for a couple of months so everyone thinks your a great guy (because you are), and apply to better places, and use your references.

Boomers almost never stayed for 30 years. It's completely fictionalized version of hit history. In fact if you go back and look at the textbooks of the 1980s and '90s you'll see that one of the main themes is the reason Japan was so much better at out manufacturing in the United States was that the company's promise their employees lifetime employment but American employees would lose their jobs after 5 years. We’re the same age and I’ve been at my job for 8 years and the prior job for 15. But I owned both those companies. Before that it was 4 & 2 respectively. Even before that, I had one for 3 and another for 2, I was 18-22 back then. Hell, I was a better man then than you are now!

Poors are leaving California. Not all of them are poor, a lot of them are well off, but a lot of people who can’t hack it are leaving. However, in the town I work in, there is a massive influx of people all the time. I know because I see the houses change hands and the houses are houses we’ve worked on in the past. The people coming in are highly educated and quite well off.
