Crowdstrike makes security software for computers. People buy that software and install it on their computers. Security software has deep hooks into in the system. Pajeet pushes bad update, breaks windows systems. There you go.
Who's "they"? Everything is handled by 3rd party contractors. My state doesn't even have an IT department, it's 3rd party contractors. Every single business with a computer relies on 3rd party software to operate.

Maybe i should read the articles, maybe i'm retarded, but why are all these different systems in multiple places around the world all affected? . did everyone just update their systems at the same time or is it bad software from a previous update or are these large corporate company systems updated remotely by CrowdStrike/ microshit.
All this security software (think fancy antivirus) has deep hooks into any system where a company decides to deploy it. This software needs to be able to phone home to get software and definition updates. If whoever administers this software on their "cloud console" does not choose to deploy these things in a prescribed way, they rely on the vendor to maintain it all. Most of the time this is fine and a huge time saver for it staff. Some times they fuck it up and the computers that had that software installed, and had administrators who choose to let her rip, got a bad update and fucked shit up.
Best case, these computers are able to pull down whatever fix and come back online automatically.
Worst case, all systems affected need someone sitting at it to enter your bitlocker key and then do some thing to fix it. The video linked shows the worst case because most companies do not deploy the technology to access systems that haven't booted.
This isn't a windows problem. Windows systems are affected. I don't use crowdstrike and my systems are not affected.
The funny part, is all these companies paid a high premium to set themselves up for these issues.

ahh gotcha. i guess i wasn't to far off for jumping in feet first, but yea - i dont have fancy poo tech CrowdStrike either. so will still be on xyz tommorrow.
It's not even slightly related to what our resident schizo was trying to claim. What cryptography was broken? This is just more Boeing-style diversity hires at work. This is a bad software update and totally unrelated to cryptography.
Wow, just read more about this, the fix can't be pushed remotely. Machines must be locally booted into safe mode. This company just cost the world fucking billions of dollars in loss and fixing the machines. Fucking wow.
Boot Windows into Safe Mode or the Windows Recovery Environment
Navigate to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike directory
Locate the file matching “C-00000291*.sys”, and delete it. (Maybe backup)
Boot the host normally.
Also
Get a barcode scanner and convert the code to Ean-128. You can then just scan them off a laptop screen. If you need to do lots of systems that may be relatively fast compared to the alternatives.
I work for a competitor of theirs and all endpoint protection agents can cause systems performance / network degradation issues, but this catastrophe is a direct result (I am guessing) of not incrementally deploying the release in test orgs as beta with adequate testing. Probably doesn't help that everyone off-shores their development to the lowest cost code writers in ..bangalore, pune, etc (..do the needful)
This has nothing to do with prototype. Some pajeet was too lazy to properly test a Windows update and it is now crashing all Windows systems worldwide.
There are systema down on all the projects I work on and most of my coworkers aee saying the same. Rumor is this is an intentional takedown but I'm not convinced.
The one thing you absolutely NEVER do is let your adversary know how much damage he actually did in an attack.
You immediately put out a press release saying "Oh, here was a slight bit of unpleasentness yesterday, but no real harm done. Just continue to go on about you business as normal, citizens. Nothing to see here."
Now the job of all of the so-called, quote unquote "Officially Approved Ex-Spurts" is to distract from that fact, and to reassure the sheep that the shepards are still very much in charge, everything is under control and they are still safe as long as they stand perfectly still, right where they are.
There's "A" fix, not that it was fixed. The damage is done to the computers that were affected. It requires manual recovery for those. Other systems coming online won't be affected in hindsight.
It can be hard to tell if you are having internet issues or web app issues. Web app issues look like Internet issues, but you can ping 1.1.1.1 to check latency or packet loss to cloudflare.
Boy, was this shit ever confirmed. I haven't been so prepared by a Voat post for something that happened IRL since I stockpiled toilet paper before the pandemic shortages.

Since when was CloudStrike an embedded and core functional part of the Windows OS?
And.. why is it it an embedded and core functional part of the Windows OS?
Technical fuckin' idiots.
