The Boys started as a comic book that takes a "darker look" at the concept of super heroes. Kind of an "Invincible 1.0" type of deal. The story focuses on the world's #1 super hero team "The Seven",and no,the names don't get better. You should've figured that out when it was called "The Boys". The Seven are basic corpo whores who are out for fame,glory,and money,in that order. The whole thing's run by a company called Vought which runs things about as well as a modern corporation does. The Boys are a group of people who were hurt in some way by the various members of the Seven who want revenge.

Basically,one group of barely restrained narcissistic psychopaths tries to take down another group of barely restrained narcissistic psychopaths like either group winning is going to change anything. In other words,assholes being assholes to assholes. Some people say it's making fun of conservatives but in all honesty,it seems more like a critical look at celebrity culture with superheroes being a metaphor for the "influencers" of the modern world. And in the end,it's all just a bunch of bullshit.
