First off, I'm not a fan of him, but he is MUCH more popular outside the US than in.

Add to that I believe a lot of other countries see Americans as crazy, nothing can stop us cowboys. Maybe that's naive and non Americans can tell me if I'm way off but Trump surviving and then raising his fist, while corny, does fall into that trope. I think the people outside the US that like Trump will like him a whole lot more now.
