I use my own personal chicken/steak index to gauge the problem.
I used to buy a package of three fat chicken breasts for $8 and porterhouse steaks for $16-18 a piece.
Now they sell a skinny chicken package of TWO for $10 and that same porterhouse steak is $24.
They did the same with laundry detergent but they left the price more or less alone but shrunk the volume all while it states "More soap for your money!".
It used to average $5.05 nationwide. Now it’s hovering between 3 and 4. It went down because they dumped the strategic petroleum reserve. Now the reserve is empty. If a single OPEC country decides not to export anymore, that’s it for US transport (and all other prices).
