Why would they go home during summer, when it's crazy hot in their shitholes? Unless they have s school-aged children it makes no sense.

Much of western Europe has a tradition of shuttering mfg plants and similar for 4-6 weeks during the summer. Likely, if they have jobs, that's when vacation is available.
