I smoke perhaps 1-2 cigarettes a day, or the vape equivalent (ugh they are trash too), never before midday but usually after dinner as a quiet ritual outside by myself and my thoughts. Going on almost 10 years now. Had also given up for around 10 years but i actually enjo=y the whole process of having a cigarette.
Nicotine for the win. I spent the longest time trying to find actual longitudinal studies on 'natural organic tobacco inhalation' opposed to this commercial garbage for health issues / cancer etc - could not find any. Ideally it would need to be like some south American shamans or similar that had never consumed commercial tobacco with the 600 plus toxic / carcinogenic additives.
I read an article years ago about the "oldest man in the world", at that time. He was a chink that was supposed to be 107 years old. The article said that he smoked one cigarette every day. That's a pleasure smoker. I was a pleasure smoker for many years. I smoked five cigarettes a day. Mom quit smoking when she got pregnant with her first child, and never smoked again the rest of her life. She told me that almost every single day she craved a cigarette, but not just a cigarette, it had to be a cup of coffee, a cigarette, and some dark chocolate. The combination of those three tastes was something she could not get over.
Just so you know. The "research" that was "done" that "proved" that cigarettes are the worst thing in the world, was just as fake as the "research" that was done that "proved" cigarettes were harmless.

Yep, agreed - modern commercial tobacco is the extracted juice from pressed leaf into which is then added up to 600 various different additives (most toxic/ carcinogenic and are regulated back into the food/ produce supply instead of companies having to pay exorbitant prices to safely dispose off, but now can sell it back by weight to tobacco companies etc). Sheets of deodorized cardboard (with various filler and other additives put into the cardboard mix) are chopped into tiny cuts, after first dipped into the tobacco juice and hung to dry, that is then rolled into the cigarette. They stopped using actual tobacco leaf starting around the late 1980-2000's. Break open a cigarette that's why its has a dry cardboard-like texture.
EDIT: Modern commercial cigarettes are not actual tobacco plant leaf but a manufactured facsimile.
Yes. I used to only smoke cigs when I drank and it never developed into a regular habit. Granted, at the time I probably drank 4 nights a week, but whatever. I never wanted a cigarette while sober.

You mean 'commercial cigarettes'? Those have chemicals added to make them addictive.
What is a "social smoker"? Aside from that, it's easy to smoke tobacco or marijuana you grew yourself on your own schedule without addiction being a thing. Lots of "tobacco leaf" is available to purchase online, and same for marijuana. Around here, marijuana stores are required to test for pesticides and other contaminants.
