I don't know how many OPs here twist throttle but I've been doing it for a fuck of a long time and I've covered a lot of road, highways and trails both in 1st and 3rd world. I've had my share of accidents (none my fault) and I've seen more than my share of other people in accidents, but without a doubt the biggest thrill of life comes from speed.
My fastest speed on 2 wheels is 135MPH and there's no 2 ways about it life is a different picture at that speed.
HOWEVER...I have never sustained a speed of 135MPH for more than maybe 7-10 minutes and this is where I slightly acquiesce to those with the balls to endure the "ISLE OF MAN", especially at sustained speeds of 136MPH, in one instance 207MPH top speed.
Everything is about time and distance. Every second at 1 MPH is 1.466 FPS, now multiply that distance by 135. IN 1 second a distance of 198ft has been traveled...that about the length of a football field in a little over 2 seconds...that's when one learns to alternate blinking from eye to eye.
I remember an AF pilot from Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota telling me that it takes more skill to operate a motorcycle than it does an F16...I had to agree.
1986 was probably close to the last time you could do that. Too many retards now. Amazing what 38 years will do to a coontry! I love racing thru the cross Bronx expressway to the GWB but not on a bike, not now.
I used to do palomar mountain and the amount of bikes wrapped around trees every weekend was sad. I laid my bike down a couple times because I’m stupid. But passing a CHP patrol car at over a 100 mph is extremely fun. They can’t catch you If the helicopter is not up, any moron on a motorcycle can easily break 100 mph (160km for you euro faggots.)
IIRC the Isle of Man TT has one of the highest rates of crashes of any road race. Must be because the steel balls of the riders throws their center of balance off.
Isle of man racers are straight fucking autistic retards. To stay in the zone that entire time is inhuman. I'd zone out on the first turn and get smeared across the cliffs
@ModernGuilt...it's the psyc prep that pumps and blends the adrenaline into the octane through the throttle, the rider goes into a trance and moulds with the asphalt and all the time the line of vision is about 150ft with a 6th sense scanning of everything from the forks to the 150ft focal point...by the time the rider enters a turn he's on muscle memory and reflex, body and machine functionally meld together...these guys are spaced right out when motoring, I've got a few buddies that have raced and after it's over they can't even converse normally for a few to 10 minutes...but the thrill of scraping pavement in a 30° bank to where you feel it in your feet or 20° and your knee touches surface is unmatchable...I have no idea as to what it is that compells someone to engage with the reaper but holy fuck when you come out alive it's like life is starting all over again...I've done my share of riding but never the ISLE and quite honestly if I was forced into it I would do it with the assumption that I would at least finish alive...I still ride heavy at age 66 but suddenly now I find myself being very cautiously analytical about maneuvers...for guys like me there's no realizing defeat until we are defeated...my buddy who passed away a few months ago was a hellfire missile on two wheels and he held status throughout the North American circuit, and I have his helmet.

"I still ride heavy at age 66..."
A cousin of mine practically lived on his bike. He was about 75 years old, cruising along, not even going hard and fast, when a deer came out of the woods. It wasn't even a matter of "reflexes". The deer bounded out of the brush smack dab on top of the front tire. Ya know, my cous was one of the toughest, strongest guys that I have ever known. If it wasn't for that damn deer, if he had waited for "natural causes" to take him out, he would have probably lived to be over 100. This reminds me. I need to visit his widow. She was afraid everyone would forget her after he was gone.
@Peleg...sucks big time that your cousin didn't make it, I've had my share of animal collisions and it was always the animals (dog, coons, coyote) that were on the losing end...but 5years ago I had my wife out for a ride the day before I was to leave for Sturgis and, just like your story, a deer jumps out of the bush onto centerline of the road, I managed to slightly maneuver away from direct impact but the head of the deer, as it was swinging around, came into the side of the bike and shattered my wife's left leg and contorted my rear crash bars but I kept the bike up...she got a good insurance settlement but her leg and lower spine got fucked up, today she still rides but does have a few issues with her leg...but the safest operator in the world cannot prevent a deer out of nowhere collision.
My fastest speed on 2 wheels is 168MPH, GPS backed and I only held it for 5 minutes before I decided it wasn't worth it. Still had one gear left but not the balls to find out.
140 mph is fine, it's comfortable on the right bike.
Those fuckers on the Isle of Man have skill and intent, men without subtle fear.

1983. I raced a woman driving a Maserati on the coast freeway 101 in cal.
I was on a new Kawasaki GPz750 that had jetted carbs, Kerker header and Dunlop Sport Elite tires. I don't know what Maserati she was driving but at 135 mph she laughed, waved, shifted and pulled away!
The bike had another 1000 rpm left but I was done.
The Kawi GP 750 was 110mph top end but not sustainable for maybe 10minutes before the rods separated from the crank...but I'll tell you the 1974 Kawi 500 2 stroke was unbeatable in a mile race, that fucking thing would eat the 1st quarter mile in 8 seconds but holding the speed was tough because of resonating vibration...it was a street hopper or 1 mile strip, not long distance...I fucked around a lot with the Suzuki GS1100 and that fucker was evil fast...if I was going to get serious I would go with either the BMW or DUCATI, both have excellent banking stability...today I'm running a HD ULTRA with a 124S&S, Baker Trans, Barnett lock-up clutch and S&S air induction (beats turbo), also upgraded compensator and triple phase stator with Michelin rubber front and rear...at 135MPH the valves hit the floating stage and it humms, I can wheelie that monster in 3gears...I've got the reputation around here now that when I'm on the road nobody wants to look foolish and race me...I had a half mile drag with a Mustang last year and my front wheel never touched down until I hit 4th gear, my mechanic was behind it all and was fucking impressed, I blew the guy away, he never had a chance but he didn't know it.
220kmp/h in a Z car @ 2am in the morning a decade ago. When the pigs pulled me up the brakes were glowing like an induction stove top, billowing with steam.

I guess I'm a pussy. I almost died on a highway because some dumbass forgot to tie his ladder down. I sold my street bike and stayed on the dirt. I did motocross, GNCC and desert racing for some years. Got hurt a couple of times but mostly had a great time. Riding was always medicine for my head.
My record on 2 wheels is 217 on a stretched and turbo'd hayabusa. Super straight 8 lane (4/4) interstate at 2 am.
Scariest moment was by far splitting two semi's at around 160.
I really never expected to live past 25.
In my experience at 165ish some bikes start to "skip". The divots in the road are such that you can hear the motor oscillate as the wheels gently start leaving the asphalt momentarily.
At 205 is the dots blur into a mostly solid line.
Whole different world at those speeds. Most alive I've ever felt.
Be careful. Ride like everyone you see is actively trying to kill you. If its a sport bike, the more you lean the more stable it feels cornering. Don't be the guy with the bitch strip. Always have an alternate line planned in case the first is a no go. Keep the shiny side up.
@Shadowwolf225...good one Bro...sounds like you've been riding for a while...as for that "light front end" feeling (hairline before wobble) I've experienced that only a few times and it was always with the Honda Goldwing, the Suzuki held tight to surface but the only way out of it is to snap the throttle into wide open, slowing down puts you momentarily into a threshold of instability and that's where guys go end over end, increasing the speed puts the weight of the bike back in linear track and removes the wobble and then speed can be reduced, "speed wobble" happens when the bike is catching air, if it had wings it would go airborne, when you see these racers go into a wobble it's because of a miscalculation in weight distribution, the rider has to have his weight forwarded as much as possible, sliding your ass to the rear is for quick acceleration but once into the speed zone the weight has to shift forward, and every inch counts when it comes to "load moment"...if it wasn't wet and cold as fuck today I'd be out for a ride...anyways, keep motoring

I had a gun on me that meant a year in Rikers if I got caught.
I hit 100 mph in heavy traffic. I heard the cops crash behind me and I made it to the George Washington bridge and crossed into Jersey.
Sorry officers!
