Fun Fact: lesbians are responsible for 100% of all off-world crimes

[ - ] dosvydanya_freedomz 5 points 10 monthsJun 27, 2024 23:32:31 ago (+5/-0)

🤣 i just chuckled at the title of this thread. well played op

yeah i heard about this earlier. the russians seems to want to do their own thing. kinda like the MGTOW of politics so the americans are going to be in dire straits sooner than later. the russians have kinda mastered their rocketry while NASA is incompetent on this regard

[ - ] mikenigger 4 points 10 monthsJun 28, 2024 03:39:48 ago (+4/-0)

no amount of Lysol can fix it

[ - ] KangzNSheeit 4 points 10 monthsJun 28, 2024 02:00:53 ago (+4/-0)

I just don't understand how it costs a billion dollars to strap a few rockets to the thing and decrease its velocity in a controlled manner. One thousand million dollars? Really?

[ - ] TheNoticing 2 points 10 monthsJun 28, 2024 07:37:00 ago (+2/-0)

Lots of theorizing and very expensive engineers to work on it.

[ - ] KangzNSheeit 0 points 10 monthsJun 28, 2024 18:56:29 ago (+0/-0)

Theorizing? It's newtonian physics. WTF is there to theorize? It's a problem that's been solved for a long, long, time. Just because you don't know shit doesn't mean it's hard to the tune of 1 billion dollars.

[ - ] TheNoticing 0 points 10 monthsJun 29, 2024 12:25:41 ago (+0/-0)

Well 'scuse me for not taking physics. There still is a lot of theorizing, simulations, then going up and doing it.

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer2 2 points 10 monthsJun 28, 2024 17:29:53 ago (+2/-0)

You're paying for the expensive White engineers to do a right job of it instead of smashing it into a major city or something.

[ - ] KangzNSheeit 0 points 10 monthsJun 28, 2024 19:00:30 ago (+0/-0)

An undergrad physics major could solve the orbital mechanics problem. Find a rocket with the right delta v for the station, have a mech-e analyze the right spot to mount it and design the fixture. $100 million tops, and $70 million of that would just be the launch vehicle.

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer2 0 points 10 monthsJun 28, 2024 19:17:17 ago (+0/-0)

And watch it crash into a major city.

Explosives don't vaporize matter, like in the movies. They just rearrange it real fast.

Thus turning one huge contiguous mass that could be safely deorbited into the ocean in a calculable, more or less controlled manner, into a whole shitload of small, medium, and large masses, all in random ballistic trajectories.

Blowing shit up doesn't always go the way you thought it would:

[ - ] SumerBreeze -1 points 10 monthsJun 28, 2024 10:05:44 ago (+0/-1)

Yes. But larger pieces have evaporated in the atmosphere; that thing is gonna open up like an umbrella and separate into many pieces and burn off.

[ - ] BulletStopper 2 points 10 monthsJun 28, 2024 16:23:14 ago (+2/-0)*

Uh-huh. What part of the word, "random", do you feel you are having the most trouble understanding?

Remember this?: https://i.cbc.ca/1.3177458.1438549803!/fileImage/httpImage/columbia.jpg

It's all purely academic until grandma is minding her own business, watching her "Matlock" reruns, and a chunk like one of those comes down through her parlor ceiling at terminal velocity. Probably be a little more excitement than she's generally accustomed to.

And that sort of thing absolutely NEVER happens, right? Until suddenly it does.

Frankly, I hope that you ARE correct, and every single molecule of that thing gets disintigrated into it's component atoms.

https://www.nasa.gov/centers-and-facilities/ames/ames-science/ames-space-biosciences/multi-drug-resistant-bacteria-found-on-iss-mutating-to-become-functionally-distinct/

Because there's some shit on that thing I would rather DIDN'T make landfall intact, gnome sayin' homes?

But, hell, I'm old enough to remember a time back when the doors didn't just spontaneously and randomly fall off of Boeing's planes while in flight. Good times.

[ - ] Endo_Aryan 3 points 10 monthsJun 28, 2024 00:14:19 ago (+3/-0)

Wait, what happened to the ISS? I missed it

[ - ] _Obrez 6 points 10 monthsJun 28, 2024 07:59:57 ago (+6/-0)

The retards at nasa gave a middle aged dike kike with basically no qualifications the longest space mission for a woman in history and she went full Karen giga kike in space. She refused to use the toilets and was shitting and pissing into bottles and "diapers" she drilled at least one but likely two holes in the hull of the ISS she sabotaged multiple long term experiments, some being as old as the ISS itself and all of her shitfits, sometimes literally tossing rags she had wiped herself with, led to the entire station becoming contaminated and stinking horribly, astronauts are now refusing missions and I have heard bacterial escape has made the station a biohazard. They sent a rocket to collect her early and try to resupply her damages but this was nearly 5 years back the russians said they were going their own way about a year or two ago and now it looks like they were serious and other nations are abandoning it it's time to scrub the project and start over.

Deorbiting it is the safest cheap option, pushing it out to deep space would be expensive and it could evolve bacterial colonies onboard into a disease capsule waiting to bite us in the ass in the future, breaking it up in orbit or deep space would just create a shrapnel field that could damage other space vehicles or satellites, we should probably be doing a salvage op to save the solar panels for the replacement but if it needs be scuttled quickly that says the orbit is decaying or its rotation has become erratic or it has received some other damage likely as a result of that botched boeing mission.

[ - ] Endo_Aryan 2 points 10 monthsJun 29, 2024 08:58:47 ago (+2/-0)

Wow, that's incredibly embarrassing. No wonder the media kept this story quiet. So that's why Musk won the bid to decommission it? I heard that story but not the woman getting space cabin fever.

[ - ] Rebooted 1 point 10 monthsJun 28, 2024 09:32:23 ago (+1/-0)

Whwre did you hear the diaper, etc., stuff?

[ - ] _Obrez 0 points 10 monthsJun 30, 2024 05:01:50 ago (+0/-0)

A 4chan user on /g/ shared a screen cap from /sci/ where a rusky was describing this and later on new 8/pol/, a link to a 2ch thread in what looked like their science board where a poster claiming to be a part of Japan's space agency described the above events and users were making memes and questioning their national entanglement with the US.

I later saw a russian published article approved by their space agency that was a bit more detailed and a whole bunch of refusals to comment by the european space agency.

[ - ] BulletStopper 1 point 10 monthsJun 28, 2024 16:44:51 ago (+1/-0)

"...save the solar panels for the replacement..."

Not worth saving. High velocity micro-debris has been steadily eroding them from the day they unfolded.

[ - ] _Obrez 1 point 10 monthsJun 30, 2024 04:47:55 ago (+1/-0)

As I understand it replacing/repairing damaged solar arrays is what nearly half of the space walks are for.

[ - ] BulletStopper 1 point 10 monthsJun 30, 2024 11:14:25 ago (+1/-0)

The ISS has been in orbit for over 25 years. Most people don't have cars that old.
One reason you only see promo shots from a distance is because close pics of the solar array look like a crazy woman's quilt. All fucked up, raggedy, and full of holes. And the heat exchange system is constantly exposed to the same threats.

And all it really took was one psycho lesbian to bring it down.

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer2 1 point 10 monthsJun 28, 2024 17:33:03 ago (+1/-0)

Don't skimp out on her irradiating the entire ISS. That's how she killed off most of the experiments, and nearly killed the entire crew(who will now die of cancer).

[ - ] TheNoticing 0 points 10 monthsJun 29, 2024 12:33:24 ago (+0/-0)

The hole compromised any shielding? I remember the incident with that crazy bitch drilling the hole, but never knew which direction it was.

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer2 0 points 10 monthsJun 29, 2024 12:51:16 ago (+0/-0)

No, she wrecked a lot of equipment and turned a radiation dish toward the ISS. There's a lot of shit they're hiding, as per usual.

[ - ] TheNoticing 0 points 10 monthsJul 1, 2024 02:53:46 ago (+0/-0)

A radiation dish?

[ - ] TheNoticing 1 point 10 monthsJun 29, 2024 12:31:24 ago (+1/-0)

More evidence women should be no more than paper pushers at NASA.

[ - ] Clubberlang 1 point 10 monthsJul 2, 2024 09:18:07 ago (+1/-0)

sometimes literally tossing rags she had wiped herself with, led to the entire station becoming contaminated and stinking horribly, astronauts are now refusing missions...

Sounds like a diverse and inclusive Netflix adaption.

Who knew sending a mentally ill degenerate into space would lead to it going crazy and sabotaging its mission in the name of climate change?

[ - ] ModernGuilt 5 points 10 monthsJun 28, 2024 01:30:44 ago (+5/-0)

I don't know about anything recent. Just when Serena Auñón-Chancellor had a meltdown and drilled a hole in the Russia capsul. Retard nasafags said the hole they immediately detected was actually drilled 3months earlier before it launched

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer2 1 point 10 monthsJun 28, 2024 17:31:42 ago (+1/-0)*

She did a lot more than that. She irradiated the entire thing, nearly killing the crew(who will all now die of cancer) and wrecking nearly all the experiments. She destroyed the toiletry so badly that the place will never not smell like shit. That one bitch killed the one off-Earth station we had.

Almost like it was her mission to destroy it.

[ - ] ModernGuilt 0 points 10 monthsJun 28, 2024 17:39:13 ago (+0/-0)

I've never heard those stories. It sounds about right, but where'd you get that from?

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer2 0 points 10 monthsJun 28, 2024 17:40:42 ago (+0/-0)

Fuck man, that was years ago. I have no idea where the stories are now, and good luck finding it through any modern search engine.

[ - ] Clubberlang 0 points 10 monthsJul 2, 2024 09:24:26 ago (+0/-0)

Why didn't they restrain or quarantine the bitch until they could get someone out there to replace it so it could return to a mentally Ill society that makes acceptions for its degeneracy.

[ - ] BulletStopper 3 points 10 monthsJun 28, 2024 03:37:12 ago (+3/-0)

[ - ] Endo_Aryan 1 point 10 monthsJun 29, 2024 09:12:51 ago (+1/-0)

The publication claims that Auñón-Chancellor had an emotional breakdown in space, then damaged a Russian spacecraft in order to return early. This, of course, is a complete fabrication.

Bottom-tier debunking effort right there

Bureaucratic equivalent of shouting, "Nuh-uuuh!", over and over.

I'm sure it has something to do with saving someone's democracy.

Just a phrase I made up that america technically collapsed because all our cities are 3rd world shitholes, but (((wolf blitzer))) didn't officially announce it yet so we have to pretend everything's fine

A good question you can apply to going to the moon and the shuttle program. We "lost the math" is absolute bullshit. We're still using equations made thousands of years ago, but can't "find" or "remember" some of the most difficult math we've ever done? They mean to say what's written on the boards is never recorded? That's crazy talk.

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer2 0 points 10 monthsJun 28, 2024 17:36:00 ago (+0/-0)

Mars? Fuck Mars. We need to build local industrial infrastructure first, like a floating factory or a small O'Neal cylinder.

[ - ] CasualObserver 1 point 10 monthsJun 28, 2024 08:05:03 ago (+1/-0)

So let me get this straight. This thing is out in 'space' dodging 'space junk' and it cannot simply push off out into 'space' and go away? They have to crash it into earth.
Got it.

[ - ] allAheadFull [op] 1 point 10 monthsJun 28, 2024 18:24:22 ago (+1/-0)

You can see the amount of energy a rocket requires even to take a small payload up to that orbit. That thing is only about 250 miles up and traveling around 17,000 miles per hour. Also it was taken up in pieces over decades. To move it farther away, or get it moving towards the Sun would take a ridiculous amount of energy.

[ - ] TheNoticing 0 points 10 monthsJun 29, 2024 12:39:50 ago (+0/-0)

Basically rockets carrying rockets and literal tons of fuel. Plus the thrusters aren't even close enough to move it enough, even if the whole thing were to be filled with hydrazine for those thrusters.
