Glad you liked the video. Craftsmanship seemed to be a lost art to me, and I started this sub as an exercise to find out if that was true, or just my perception. It is my hope that more than a handful here will find the right idea that inspires them and sets them off on a lifelong passion, and hopefully puts a few bucks in their pockets. Also, I hope that parents get their kids away from the damn video games, and get them started early in some passion that they can enjoy for the rest of their lives.
About twelve years ago, I bought a glass dining table made by a Venetian glass company that had been family run since the 14th century. After a year of no table, I went to the vendor to complain. I was told the glass company was out of business, after 500+ years. They said I could have my money back, but the word was that a couple of guys were still working to finish off orders. It finally came after 4 years. I was told I got the last thing they made before turning out the lights.
Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chairs that matched the wood base. So I’m SOL on the chairs. Table is beautiful though.

Sucks that that happened to you. Incredible that there are businesses out there that have that history. If you can, post a picture of it. I love to see the table...
I’m in a battle of wills with the furniture store. They have the last 4 matching chairs that someone didn’t want when they bought the floor display table. 12 years those chairs have been sitting in their shop, but they want 3k a piece for them. They jacked the price on these one of a kind items.
When my wife and I go in there, they still remember that we got the last table. And they’ll say, ‘finally came back for the chairs?’ Not for that price. My argument is that they will never sell the chairs without the table, so knock off 70% and I’ll consider it. Their argument is that I’ll never find their like. But I’m not looking. I have chairs that work just fine and look good, and I didn’t pay twelve fucking grand for them. The chairs that go with the table don’t have a back. Their just square stools.
They have my number. Someday they’ll break. They think they have me over a barrel, for 12 years and counting. I haven’t been sitting on the floor this whole time.
