Just got this shit...the reason why my PC is won't run Windows 11 is because the first thing I did when I got this system was to disable the TPM chip. You should as well.

You can run Windows 11 without TMP enabled or available. You just have to change a registry key during installation.

Use Linux. Own a computer. Instead of offering a free pc to Windows and then renting it from them in exchange for your data. Do you remember the whole you will own nothing claim? Well apparently you will still be buying the hardware and then not owning it.

In the old days the OS was the product and it served you. Now YOU are the product, and your computer is theirs to run what they want on it.

Cool. Yet another reason not to install windows.

Microslop's turn to evil accelerated after that fat fuck jew Steve Ballmer left and was succeeded by Satya Nadella the poojeet.

After Windows 7 their products are shit and they have nothing interesting to offer anymore. The only thing they can do is coerce their users into a submissive relationship and collect as much data as possible.

They have been doing that since the beginning...

spoken like someone that doesn't actually know jack shit. All the new shit with Azure has let me setup the entire environment so I can just order laptops from Lenovo and ship em directly to employees without touching shit. Everything is auto deployed, all my policies and apps auto install and end point security is enforced for all remote users.

I used to have to do EVERYTHING manually for EVERY laptop/desktop/whatever. So setting up one user was a 2-4 hour process.

Now if someone's laptop dies, I can just give them an unopened brand new box and they will be good to go within about 20 mins.

But MUH LINUX right?

[ - ] MrPancake 1 point 11 monthsJun 26, 2024 12:03:49 ago (+1/-0)

No doubt with Azure. Even with SCCM, MDT and WDS. Linux is good for a lot of things, but in a business environment; Windows is king.

[ - ] NoRefunds 0 points 11 monthsJun 26, 2024 12:32:12 ago (+0/-0)

Sccm was always a pain in the ass for me, then we had the idiots at our parent company wipe 300+ laptops TWICE. Luckily I already disconnected our sccm box because I already knew they were idiots.

[ - ] MrPancake 0 points 11 monthsJun 26, 2024 12:50:17 ago (+0/-0)

I hit the wrong machine with a remote wipe (an executive) back in 2008(ish). I only did that once. I still have that memory pop up from time to time; body temp goes up 2 degrees every time. After that I would just use MDT for imaging and push installs through Powershell. Ah the good ol days.

[ - ] NoRefunds 0 points 11 monthsJun 26, 2024 13:29:33 ago (+0/-0)

my buddy from the parent company told me they did it, and asked me what really happened. They were telling everyone, "We completed an unscheduled computer refresh."

They said it the 2nd time as well. Since they were German, no one got fired, because gross incompetence like that cannot be punished in their dumbass socialist system. Meanwhile, I got fired a month before my paternity leave after being the oldest employee at the company of over 7 years because the new ass ramming faggots wanted to take over the ops center I just finished building after 3 years.

[ - ] MrPancake 0 points 11 monthsJun 26, 2024 14:40:37 ago (+0/-0)

I hear ya. I fessed up; told the executive I fucked up and hit the wrong object and would make it right. Don't worry about the job loss; that is just the universe getting you out of a shit situation. There are always better opportunities.

[ - ] NoRefunds 0 points 11 monthsJun 26, 2024 14:42:45 ago (+0/-0)

yeah I was out of a job for a year, insanely hard to get another job, but at least I got to spend time with my new kid, and now I have a way better job doing the same thing.

[ - ] PoundOfFlesh 0 points 11 monthsJun 26, 2024 14:30:14 ago (+0/-0)

LOL looks like the insecure IT dweeb got triggered.

I was talking about personal/home users - those who use Windows by default and wouldn't know what else is out there. Business/enterprise is completely different story.

Or just cry some more, faggot.

[ - ] rabidR04CH 13 points 11 monthsJun 25, 2024 21:54:56 ago (+13/-0)

I solved that problem by simply replacing Windows with Linux Mint. Read up on client-side scanning, and how the European Union is trying to make it law to circumvent the encryption everyone is setting up. Tell yourself Microsoft, Apple and Google are all on board with this junk. Suddenly, using Linux won't seem like such a big compromise.

The compromise is drivers, gaming, and just being able to access software once it’s installed. Using apt-get commands to install shit without any sort of taskbar shortcut. And why am I typing sudo at the beginning of every command? Just redact that part from the shit.

It’s been more than a decade since I’ve played with Linux so perhaps these have been resolved by now.

you deleted your comment dumb faggot, but from what I remember of the bullshit you wrote...

windows gui managers:

https://winstall.app/
https://community.chocolatey.org/packages/ChocolateyGUI

frontends for terminal app installer. comparable to the ones I listed for linux, also frontends for terminal app installers.

games I played in the last few months besides solitare:

helldivers 2, sand land, songs of conquest, diabotical rogue, dune spice wars, and whatever else the scene releases that I feel like playing

something about drivers:

you're a fucking noob if you've never experienced windows not loading a sata or scsi in the course of your IT "PRO" work. dipshit.

and whatever other dumb shit you wrote.

[ - ] hylo 0 points 11 monthsJun 26, 2024 01:49:43 ago (+0/-0)

Why are you so obsessed with calling or comparing everyone to a PRO? If anything you're proving how one has to be a "PRO" to get the most out of Linux.

I just play games that I LIKE. You play games from "the scene" (what even the fuck is that? lol) that only work on Linux or some hacked together shit involving other hardware or WINE. Because nothing proves Linux is so compatible by running Windows inside of it.

You still don't know how drivers work. You think you can just swap hard drives from host to host like you swap cum with your boyfriend. You still have to download drivers and install drivers even for common hardware like video cards. As a "gamer" you should know this.

I deleted my post cuz some asshole pissed me off and I was taking it out on you. I kind of felt bad, not gonna lie. But now, consider it undeleted.

To reiterate what I said: You're a typical, run of the mill Linux basement dwelling dweeb with too much time on his hands. You are so aloof and infatuated with the smell of your own shit that you consider your learned workarounds as the pinnacle of what good UX should be in an OS or any software on this earth for that matter.

I don't give a shit how good you are at Linux, I don't give a shit how good you are at servicing your "clients". I don't have time to Google endlessly to accomplish the most basic of tasks because Linux is some hacked together, outdated shit that is not fit as a mainstream OS. Which is the whole fucking point of what people are trying to tell you. But you, like a needy faggot, need to slam your obtuse opinion where it clearly doesn't fit, because you need some admiration and validation for your PRO Linux skills that no one seems to appreciate.

Go ahead make another basic post about how someone should back up their shit like we're some Luddites that don't understand basic computers. We were totally clueless before you arrived. You deleted your own files, like the IT PRO that you are. I bet you did that using the terminal, which makes it easy to make these kinds of errors, proof that Linux isn't user friendly. Or is it that Linux is superior but you're incompetent?

[ - ] Kozel [op] 0 points 11 monthsJun 26, 2024 01:54:03 ago (+0/-0)

he called himself a pro, then he wrote some dumbass shit proving he is anything but that

the scene is pirated games. you can download them here https://www.skidrowreloaded.com/ or here https://www.ovagames.com/

theyre normal games with a crack. nothing special to make them run on linux. proton does that. just like it does that for virtually every steam game.

my bad @mrpancake, I thought you were the one who wrote the comment.

how good you are at Linux

I'm not good at linux. I've used it for a little over 1 year.

You're a typical, run of the mill Linux basement dwelling dweeb with too much time on his hands

you don't know shit about me nigger you just make stupid presumptions to validate yourself

I deleted my post cuz some asshole pissed me off and I was taking it out on you.

you deleted your post because its fucking stupid and it was going to be demolished point by point

basic of tasks because Linux is some hacked together, outdated shit that is not fit as a mainstream OS

you've never used it

CMD/Powershell is very similar to a Linux terminal. You have to run "sudo" if it is an admin command. In Windows you have to use "runas", unless you run powershell as an admin; or change the user to "su" in Linux. Taskbar shortcuts depend on your desktop environment. If you are running Cinnamon, you can just right click and pin. If you are running XFCE you have to modify the bar by adding a launcher and tying that launcher to the bar. Linux has loads of desktop environments; the best Windows copy cats are Plasma and Cinnamon. I had the same complaints the first time I loaded up Ubuntu (this was probably version 8 or so; a decade ago), Ubuntu, Mint, Manjaro; all work great out of the box now-a-days. Give it a shot when you have some time to play around. You will be surprised. For gaming; Proton is not ready. Graphic glitches, crashes, weird shit. IT IS getting there though. Steam getting involved will (has) greatly improve Proton and if it gets popular enough games devs might start making more games that run natively.

[ - ] TheNoticing 0 points 11 monthsJun 26, 2024 12:31:06 ago (+0/-0)

AMD drivers are built in. There's Proton and WINE for gaming, and Lutris to download games directly if you don't want to use Steam or other major installers.

I found this guy pretty good: https://youtu.be/v9tb1gTTbJE

[ - ] hylo -3 points 11 monthsJun 26, 2024 00:39:09 ago (+0/-3)

They haven't. It's still the same shit. If Linux was actually user friendly, Microsoft would not be putting shit like that in Windows.

[ - ] MrPancake 1 point 11 monthsJun 25, 2024 23:28:25 ago (+1/-0)

I am an I.T. pro and have a LOT of machines. If the machine cannot play video games it has Linux Mint. If it can play video games, it has Windows 10 or 11 AND Linux Mint. Some day Proton will be finished and M$ can eat a dick.

[ - ] PORTforceOne 0 points 11 monthsJun 26, 2024 10:35:09 ago (+0/-0)

Proton 9 is in a pretty good place imo.

I can play old games that don't even begin to work on Windows machines, like Mech Commander.

[ - ] MrPancake 0 points 11 monthsJun 26, 2024 11:59:45 ago (+0/-0)

It is. I have a Steamdeck and am impressed with what Proton can do; isn't perfect, but getting there.

It mostly works like that. Obviously you have not ran into games that wont work or textures wink in and out or multiplayer doesn't work. You seem happy. Eat some glass.
