I’ve been thinking of purchasing a sport plane, a cub or cub replica is number one on my list. A simple, rugged easy to fly air plane.

I came THIS CLOSE to buying one myself some decades ago, but things worked out differently.

I just want to fly it around the pattern on a sunny day, maybe a cross country but probably not. Keeping a small plane like this maintained is super expensive. Especially insurance, I would have to share ownership which is why I’m not ready to pull the trigger yet.

You have your pilot license? Can lease if you have the cash.

Story time: My bro-in-law was working on his license, training, flying with instructor, invited me aboard. I’m sitting in the rear of the tiny sesna when my bro says to the instructor , “can we try a stall?”.

He points the nose straight up and we quickly loose lift…. start sliding backwards toward the earth……., flip the nose around as the engine gains RPM heading directly for the ground! A few thousand feet up but still I’m shitting my pants while puking (not really).

Anyway, whatever your endeavour, land safely

Stall training was scary but exhilarating at the same time, loved and hated it, being upside down in your safe to fly airplane is shocking. Getting yourself out of the situation is key. Not panicking, getting your head together and remembering proper procedures.

Edit to add: not getting yourself into the situation is the most important of all, but bad things happen.

I love STOL aircraft. There's something very alluring about being able to access remote locations away from humanity.
