Sounds like a crazy scenario all around that's hard to comment on without being there.

I could certainly see if he was a limey lib who was really trying to snide you directly, and in a way that was specifically provoking a reaction / response from you, but through his daughters, that he indeed did open up that the conversation goes through his daughters. But the big man response is to just go direct to him either way. Then you could "defeat" their dad directly in front of them so to speak as well, and be proper not directly addressing someone else's kids (which is careful and tender topic to be doing).

It took me a long time to admit to myself or realize that I was racist. I didn't want to be racist. It was a neighbor talking to me that did it. See I always treat people individually as however as a good person and I presume that they're a good person and that includes black people. But what the neighbor told me and I realized was true and it really made me finally admit that I'm racist is that black people in groups are an extremely hazardous problem. And once I acknowledge that which was an obvious truth I hadn't really thought of I realized that yes I was racist and yes is a different group of human looking things on earth and they don't have the same brain capacity or emotional capacity for empathy or clear thinking or future planning and as a result they're very dangerous and hazardous to the rest of us.
