The Azov brigade reformulated into the Ukraine National Guard in 2022 as the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade (an Elite Mechanized Infantry Brigade) after the original volunteer Azov regiment (created out of several neo nazi volunteer militias, post 2014) got royally fcked in the ass and absolutely decimated during the Mariupol siege and surrender and attempted to bait and switch all their bad (neo-nazi) press as completely disbanded, first into smaller SSO Units (special service operations) made up from various surviving Azov veterans, before regathered together into a single brigade and given National Guard status and bolstering their numbers again.
They have always had access to US weapons, equipment, vehicles and munitions. The only counter-point was not participating in 'official overseas training'.
