Throughout the years, dating back to old voat, I like to use voat as a brain trust. If there's a home repair I'll post photos or video of the problem. I've posted welding on the welding subverse and stuff. Figured I'd throw the link up there before I buy this car.
Yes, it's true I need a daily driver car for a bargain price.
My limited wisdom in the matter is you will pay more because it is a German car. You’d do well with a Ford or Toyota. But obviously, you’d much rather have the Mercedez at the cost of taking in the problems that come with it.
If you have the time to dedicate to maintenance and repair, then go for it. However, I firmly believe either your time needs to be more valuable or you ought to be working to make your time more valuable so you aren’t spending it on car repair. Unless you are a mechanic or automobile engineer or studying to become one.
um I'm on a white supremacist website because my family are the most powerful spies on Earth. Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir is the aunt of the father-in-law of my first cousin once-removed. I'm buying a $3,000 car not because I "need to show more initiative," but rather because the terrorist faction of the Israeli government has me marked for a slow death.
Lol, white supremacy website! These are not WS types of people.
Is there a specific reason you want this particular vehicle, or just the amount it costs?
These older German ones are usually not worth the effort, niggers and Mexicans loved these cars because it was a name brand.
If either of those own it, or gives the vibe of a flipper selling it, it likely came from auction.
Of it was me, I would take a pass on this one. Another thing is that before you drive it make sure you look under the car. Where it is just has a tendency to rust out.
Invest in the ODB2 scanner. Amazon has a wide selection of them, and any stored codes will be in the computer, even some they might have cleared.
If you are a skilled mechanic - go ahead. Otherwise - stay away from this money pit. It will ruin your budget, these things are really expensive to maintain.
Yes keep down voting you fucking fags, lol. I am a 28 year experienced tech, worked around the world, worked in formula racing in Europe and in North America. I've noticed that in North America many faggots hate German cars. I've worked on every type of vehicle. You name it I've fixed it. All cars are junk. All brands have shit models. German cars are generally well built and their engines are very robust. I find people in North America to be generally much more ignorant to the requirements of running machinery. The amount of retards that have no oil on their dipstick is astounding in North America, compared to Europe. The fuel in North America is basically nigger grade high sulphur garbage that causes many issues not seen in Europe. The lowest octane in Europe is equal to 92 in North America.
Theres a reason its bargain priced. Check engine light is most likely the variable valve timing. Mercedes been doing it for years. Personally I think its just another unnecessary complication. I wouldn't own a "luxury" car unless it was given to me and I'd drive it like I rented it. Until it stopped working and I'd have it crushed.

I think it's going to work as a daily driver for some time. The big question I'm wondering is whether I should just drive it or make an appointment with a mechanic and drop some additional money on it.
Quit being gay and get a big ass lifted Chevy truck and put a rebel flag in the back of it and adjust your headlights right where they blind oncoming drivers.
You're an idiot. Only a nigger buys a $3000 Mercedes. I've got one I've got to sell in mechanically perfect condition. I spent $8000 on it, it's worth $5000. They're cars that require a significant amount of upkeep.
A dealer will probably tell you, if it isnt variable valve timing, then it needs a new timing chain and tensioner which costs vicinity of $10,000. Indy shop $3000ish. You can do solenoids yourself but whatever happens, plan on changing oil every 5k miles and dont skimp on quality oil. European cars suck to work on. I had a p.o.s. audi that you could not even align without taking to dealer.
My gut tells me this is only $3k because owner already knows timing chain, otherwise he would have done solenoids himself. So call ahead and get a quote from shops and mentally note that could be your actual cost.
I used to think Mercedes was a luxury brand, then I met a bitch from Spain. She said the only Mercedes you see in all of Europe are used as taxis. No one buys them over there. They are the equivalent of the American Buick Skylark.
That’s all I know. I don’t know what you should do.
I pay $300 for an oil change in my Mercedes. It’s tool low for ramps, so I have no choice. Only advice is take it to the Mercedes dealer and have them do an inspection. Minor shit you can fix yourself, get it. Big stuff, walk. I did $5000 worth of work in about an hour
No! That engine has a problem with the balance shaft teeth not being hardened properly and it will prematurely wear out causing a very expensive repair. If that's not the case there are a few actuators on there that may need to be replaced for the cam adjusters and that's not a big deal. The car needs to be checked stone cold to listen for timing chain rattle at cold start-up. Also get a cheap scanner and scan the codes.
I would pass, seems like a cam phaser or something issue. I would get a more popular american car in the best shape I can find. That way parts would maybe be cheaper and easier to find for my nice shitbox. I drive a 2011 F150 with a $2000 sound system installed in 2012. Had a transmission rebuild a couple years ago.
The interior of this car is insanely nice for 3 grand, even if another $2,000 on the mechanic got me a reliable daily driver, you'd still pass? plz think it over
[ - ] NoRefunds 1 point 10 monthsJun 10, 2024 01:03:38 ago (+1/-0)
Just remember, Mercedes is a woke company and they're not really making parts for their older cars anymore. My mom was going to buy a 2022 GLC... 2022... and it had a fuel impeller recall... Mercedes doesn't have a date when they will make that part again... And it's a 2022...
That Mercedes will be a fucking target for Nigger-Cholo thieves.
If you are looking for a ~3k daily driver that you plan to keep for a period of time, then find a domestic SUV or something that is a proven GOAT. It will be far cheaper to insure, find parts for, and most likely you can do the basic maintenance yourself.
I've owned two Bimmers (BMW'S), I can say that my costs were nowhere near that. The convertible, did need a replacement Getrag transmission, that was pricey! Otherwise, I did my own maintenance, Plugs, Tires, Brakes, Automatic Window mechanisms (Multiple times), Fluid replacements, etc. They were a pain in the ass to work on, but, as I learned, the repairs got much easier with each adventure.
I don't know much about the Mercedes, word of advice on these German cars, develop a really good relationship with a top-shelf INDEPENDENT Mechanic. Talk to other that own a similar Brand, and, you'll find out where the good mechanics are. ALSO! Buy these cars with your HEAD, NOT with your heart! In other words, unlike a woman, the looks of the car don't matter! It's the bones that you are interested in. Look these cars up on line, there are no shortage of Forums that specialize in your car, THEY will advise you on what years to buy, and which to stay away from and WHY!
A 16 year old mid level Mercedes is going to be a money pit. If you're expecting "Mercedes" quality in an old E series you're going to be disappointed. And if you're not mechanically inclined you're going to be broke. One good repair can EASILY outstrip the value of the car.
Mercedes are great cars to lease or own during the warranty period. Mercedes ownership doesn't particularly interest me. I see to many ghetto rich niggers and beaners in them.
A mercedes-maybach s650 cabriolet on the other hand, I DEFINITELY would drive. For the cool price of $350,000 but that thing is so sleek it is worth that price tag.
Well your little article tells the story of some guy's sob story about his patent woes. He never made a fucking fully functioning car: "George SeIden poses in his three-cylinder tourer of 1877; apparently, this' car never ran for more than five minutes, or on more than one cylinder." Anyways back to reality, the first car in the world that was built and running was a Mercedes. Sorry bud.

If you like trucks, theres a dodge hemi with 190k that needs car seat covers, amazon sells faux leather that are nice. Check for rust.
The $4999 mercedes without check engine light is a better bet if you insist on mercedes luxary.
