Flying a plane solo at 90?

Astronauts tended to be fighter pilots in the early days. They had a streak of independence in them.

That is irrelevant.

It speaks directly to the character of a man who, at 90, would take a vintage fighter up solo. So no, it’s related.

The FAA used to make commercial pilots retire at 60.
My realtor has a hanger and private air strip on her property, so her dad can fly his plane when he wants. Her dad lives with her because he had trouble caring for himself. The FAA and his family still lets that nigger fly.

Yes, he flies by himself when the mood strikes. He’s stooped and seems feeble, but his mind is sharp as hell. He’s designed a computer controlled astronomy dome structure with a rotating base, which is a bit of engineering. He’s having it built right now. He bought a 80g telescope that’s crated up in his hanger. Ironically, he was in the astronaut program in the early 70’s, but didn’t get to go.

Asshole didn't land on the moon, and didn't land on the earth. We call him a hero? Nah.
